    I have checked the settings.

What is the problem as you see it?

    %%title%% %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitename%%

is what you have set for ‘services’ CPT.

    • about category top description
why are those also not displayed on site after opening
    sceenshot > https://www.screencast.com/t/hvXxHrTc5
I guees it is a css setting but I am actually unsure and just want to know why this is not displayed.

    Hello,

I saw the links to the category settings, and looked at the Yoast settings there.

Where are you expecting to see that Title?

    Maybe it was cache?

    view-source:https://www.worldcheckin.com/gastronomies/bars/

“worldcheckin • EN” doesn’t appear anywhere in there

Once content has been loaded to google it can take some time for it to be updated.

    Hi Alex,

I have also created a support request at yoast plugin > https://wordpress.org/support/topic/the-titles-in-google-for-our-website-are-showing-wrong/ and got this answer.

We understand that you are experiencing an issue in that the Title you have specified in the plugin settings is not displaying as expected in the search results for your site. Whereas Google typically uses the title from the metadata for indexing, this is not always the case. Google will sometimes modify the title of the URL as it sees fit, as well as sometimes adding the brand or sitename to the end of your title. This is not due to the plugin not functioning as expected, but rather is due to Google modifying the Title it indexes as it’s algorithm has concluded that there is a better version to index.

We also have additional information on this topic available at the following links: https://yoast.com/google-page-title/ and https://kb.yoast.com/kb/google-shows-different-titles-for-my-site/ . Please refer to these articles as the include recommendations for crafting a page title which will help increase the likelihood that Google will use the title you specified instead of modifying your page’s title as it sees fit.

So it seems it is a google problem we cannot solve:
So… Basically, Google says: we know better, you can try and write a title we like, but we reserve to do whatever to make people click on your result.

    Hmm – that is anoying.

    Best, Alex

No doubt Yoast is annoyed by that, too! We should start a club 🙂

    Best, Alex

P.S. Here the yoast support request link (https://wordpress.org/support/topic/the-titles-in-google-for-our-website-are-showing-wrong/) to may interact also from your end.

I guess this is not a question of an option to set or not. It is the selection or definition of your title and tagline (title and description meta).

The title of your german frontpage is:

    <title>Lokale Suche • Standorte, Angebote & Event Finder • Direktwerbeplattform</title>

For me this title does not tell me what your page is about. This is too general.

The meta description is looking okay for me:

<meta name="description" content="WCI ist ein Standort & Eventfinder für Reisende & Ortsfremde • eine Direktvermarktungplattform für Unternehmer, um Standorte, Events, Service- & Gutscheinangebote weltweit zu finden & zu vermarkten. Verwende die lokale Suche und finde ganz einfach lokale Angebote, Dienstleistungen, aktuelle Veranstaltungen in der Nähe">

You can initiate a new crawling for a single page and you can see what google will do on the SERPs out of the webmaster search console.

BTW: I see 10 console errors on your page which should be solved first.

    Hello,

I’m sorry but we don’t have control over what Google does when they create those titles or snippets inside their own DB.

As Dirk says, using the available tools to make ‘the best’ titles and meta you can is the best that is possible.
