    Hi
I am going to create a post type using the events format to list programmes available between 2 dates. Can I add headers to be used for the listings? ie End Date.

Can I also add Categories in addition to the post tags so the notifications can be more specific? ie based on industry they operate. It is important to let you know I don’t do or know how to code. I have got this far on plugins, widgets, shortcodes and manipulating formats.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello,

Welcome to the support forum! Thanks for writing in with your questions.

    1. Events

The GDV1 Events addon can be used to create one CPT to be used for events with dates. (GDV2 allows multiple event CPTs).

    2. Can I add headers to be used for the listings? ie End Date.

Yes, all events have a start and end date, if I understand you correctly.

    3. Can I also add Categories in addition to the post tags so the notifications can be more specific?

Yes, categories and events can both be added to events to classify them.

When you say notifications, what do you mean, exactly? Email?

    4. CSV import

I took a look at the CSV file. If you wan to import events into the events CPT created by the events addon, try this:

    1. Enable events addon
    2. Add any custom fields that you want at GD – Events Settings – Custom fields
    3. Add an event listing
    4. Go to GD – General Dummy Data – Insert 10 events
    5. View an event to make sure it works/looks right.
    6. Export events at GD – Import/Export – Select Events – Export
    7. Download the CSV, merge your data into the CSV (use LibreOffice only)
    8. Import the data

Let us know how it goes and write back with questions.

You can ask as many questions as you like here in the forum and we will always try to give you the best answers we know. Also, though, if you are looking for hands on help, like a concierge service to setup your site exactly how you like, please take a look at the GD Experts site where you can find someone to provide that hands on help.
