In the map, is there a way to have a different colored map icon for the features listings so visitors can tell the difference between them?

Not exactly. To accomplish a similar outcome, exclude one of your categories from the free package and reserve it for the featured package. Then use that category for a specially colored marker. Let us know how it goes
