Importing Users and/or then Listings

    Hello, We are migrating to this directory from one that was custom built in the past. We have a current site with user accounts and the listing that fall under those accounts.

    I would like to have this all tide together when I import my listings so I do not have to contact my current customers and ask them to claim there listing. There are many issues with this for me because some have already paid for the year and I don’t want them to have to pay again when they claim the listing.

    The way I was thinking I could do this is to first import all the users and have it assign a temp password. Then once I have the users in I can export that and see what the post_auth ID is to populate the listing import sheet. This I am assuming would make the listings and the users already be tied together and there would be no need to claim the listing?

    Can you give me come guidance into the best way to do this?

    Once you import the users, you will be able to retrieve their user id which will be created when they are imported.

    Then, you will match that ID up in their listing as the author id.

    Claimed is another field, so you would then mark that one to 1 (yes).

    Hello Alex,

    Thanks for the quick response.

    Okay, I have looked at the import file for UsersWP and it does not include their role or password. I will assume that the role will default to subscriber and a password will auto generate?

    How is the user notified of their account, when I do the import I would not want them to be notified then because we are still building the website.

    Will I just do a bulk action of resend activation when I am ready to invite them to the site?

    Hi,

    While importing users using UsersWP, they will have a random password assigned to each user and also email will be sent to them with reset password link to set their own password. Currently, it is not possible to stop sending notification email without modifying code in UsersWP core plugin as user will not be able to reset his password without link sent in this email. There is option to send activation links to all users in a bulk but it is for our moderation add on and it will not work with this case. So you can do some minor customization in UsersWP core to fulfill your requirements mentioned above.
