hi,
We’ve got v2 all setup but not clear on recurring packages.
Can you explain what we’re to expect when setting packages to recurring with a 1 year lifetime? We have listings set to Pending Review when created from the frontend. We have enabled listing expiry in GD settings. Expiration downgrades to the Expire status. Expiration date is displayed as “unknown” until the listing is published by admin, then it shows 365 days until expire. Is this expected?
At this point, we can expect the listing owner to receive the pre-expire emails, even though their package is recurring? If their recurring payment fails, their listing will be set to expired?
Is a new invoice created each year? So that if they have a problem with recurring, they can login and pay the invoice to reactivate their listing?
We have some listings that show expiration date and some that show “never”. Is this the difference between recurring packages and manual renewal packages?
We have disabled all manual renewal packages. We now only have recurring packages enabled. Listing owners that are currently assigned to manual renewal, will be able to choose one of the recurring packages before expiration, correct? And they do so by editing their listing?
What if an admin adds a listing from the backend and sets expiration manually? We’ll have to update the publish status manually, correct? Will the customer still receive the pre-expire emails, at which point they can setup recurring payments on their own by renewing their listing? Would they just edit their listing to renew their account?
What if admins manually expire a listing, can we create an invoice for the customer to renew?
thanks,
larryDecember 12, 2019 at 10:54 pm #521262Also, I just set my listing to expire on Dec 13th. Today is the 12th. Will it expire at the beginning of the day on the 13th or the end of the day on the 13th?
But I notice, when I changed the expiration date to the 13th and save changes, the expiration date changed to the 12th. See video
https://recordit.co/Un8g83JtGLNot sure if that’s intentional or not..

Yes

Renewal is not the same as expiry. If the contract is cancelled by the user to stop payment then the listing will expire. If you set it at 1 year recurring for 2 years, then at the end of 2 years they would get an expiry reminder before the two years. If a listing is set to expire, either the non-recurring package is running out or the annual recurring set for 2 years is nearing 2 years, then expiry emails are sent.
Is a new invoice created each year?
Invoices are created during the signup for the recurring packages and when renewals payments are processed.
If they have a problem with their renewal or their package is no longer available, then yes, they can login and change their package, for example.
RE: Expiry dates – only admins can see those.
RE: Creating invoices – set the listing to draft in the backend and you can make a new invoice for it.
RE: date resetting to the 12th – that sounds like a bug, we will need to check it on your site.
If you change the date for a recurring package it will not change the date on the remote gateway where the money stuff happens, only on the site.
I will ask the developers if I have missed anything, here
December 16, 2019 at 5:09 am #521630Hi laurence,
“Recurring payments work a little different, they expire when the payment gateway send the notification that the bill was not paid OR that is was cancelled (and then we set a manual expire date for when it would have renewed).”

KiranDecember 16, 2019 at 11:51 am #521687Thanks for the guidance.
Expiration date is being displayed to all. I have to add feature to hide from all except admin.
Let me finish some work on the staging and I’ll send login for your review…
December 16, 2019 at 11:31 pm #521827If you are showing expiration date with GD Output Location you can hide that by adjusting the field settings.

December 17, 2019 at 2:23 pm #521944It’s been so long when I added my listing, I can’t remember if I created it on the front-end or backend. I would guess the front-end so that I could test checkout. But I would’ve cancelled the renewal payment though.
December 20, 2019 at 9:35 am #522526Hi @laurence,
Recurring listings must be created with real payment gateway(ex: PayPal). Expiration of recurring listings are handled via notification received from payment gateway on renew/cancel/expire subscription.

January 9, 2020 at 11:06 am #524797Hi
I have a problem with listing expiration. When a listing has expired it is still showing as activ on my maps in the frontend. Do you have any idea what could be wrong?January 9, 2020 at 11:12 am #524804Hi @etrade,
Please open your own topic and post details there, because you are not owner of this topic.

it appears you have switched back from the previous setup. Previously all your recurring packages were deactivated.
Have you checked in your authorize.net settings? You should be able to see there if any subscriptions are expiring.
If you are running recurring packages, the only way they will have their status changed is with a notification from the gateway where the subscription is being handled.
February 3, 2020 at 11:24 am #528491The problem was we disabled the non-recurring packages and reminders were not being sent. We have now enabled non-recurring and hid the options from the front-end. So they can choose a recurring package.
But now we’re seeing some recurring listings being renewed properly with authorize.net and the expiration date not changing to next year. Is this expected behavior? Are they supposed to receive payment receipt or reminder emails?
Also, when a package does get set to Expired Status, the author of the listing cannot see his listing on our dashboard page. It doesn’t display any options to renew their expired listing because it’s not visible.
I’ve tried using[gd_listings post_type="gd_place" post_author="current_user" character_count="0"] [gd_listings post_type="gd_place" post_author="current_author" character_count="0"] [gd_listings post_type="gd_place" post_author="author" character_count="0"]
Guidance is appreciated.
