Question about Searching by US States only

To an answer to my previous question, I was told that it is possible with the Location Manager addon to only allow search by US State names.

So, can visitors search by any of the 50 US State names (without being allowed to enter city name)? If that is the case, then why is there a restriction of the default location to be a City ? Seems contradictory to my “States” question.

The default location must be a city.

Search by region (state) is also possible. With the Location Manager addon installed pages are created for every state, too.

You will need the Location Manager addon to add listings outside the default location.
