Hi folks,
I just built a simple site for some friends at http://artilleryclub.ie.
Unfortunately for some reason I seem to have the following issues.
No side bar for widgetson front page or other pages.
No option to enter my licence key in the GeoD menu
Pages only show if I select full width option
Default template is not working?
Posts appear in edit mode but I just get a header and blank page when I try to view posts.
Plugins such as event manager seem to crash the site. These plugins are also not updating when activated. I have deactivated them and removed them.See http://artilleryclub.ie/index.php/2015/12/01/artillery-club-newsletter-1-2015/
If someone could help me out tonight or tomorrow am Irish time it would be great as I’m meeting my friend for lunch tomorrow.
Heading to bed here as midnight Irish time but I can DM log in details to support in the morning.
Kind regards,
Stuart

we will need admin credentials to have a look at your settings in order to be albe to assist.
If you provide them in a private reply we will look into it.
Thanks
p.s. this is not a chat where we assist members one on one at specific times. We reply to support requests in order of submission, during our working time. Just FYI

you only have GD Booster and the GD Buddypress integration installed.
Where is GeoDirectory?
You need to install the core plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/geodirectory/installation/
Let us know,
Thanks
December 5, 2015 at 5:48 pm #62704Hi Paolo,
Thanks for the reply.I have installed and uninstalled all kinds of permutations of themes downloads.
It’s actually quite confusing as to which download files are master themes and which are child themes.I have geo directory framework installed but when I then try to install geodirectory, I get an error message
Installing Theme from uploaded file: geodirectory.1.5.4.zipUnpacking the package…
Installing the theme…
The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.
Theme install failed.
From reading the forums it seems that I’m not the only one who finds this confusing. Maybe rename or add a few lines to the download page to make it clearer which are which? ;>)
That’s why I activated another theme from your downloads GDF modern. But I’m not sure if this also requires a parent framework theme…
Is there a danger of losing the work I have already done if I toggle on and off different themes?
All I want is a theme that allows a normal side bar on all pages and allows me to lists pages and events. the whole map listing side is not importanat for this website.
Kind regards,
Stuart
December 5, 2015 at 6:01 pm #62708Hi,
GeoDirectory Theme Framework is a theme, like Whoop and the other are child themes. Modern is a child theme of GeoDirectory Theme Framework, all the other are for Genesis.
Add-ons are plugins. GeoDirectory is a plugin. You are trying to install it as a theme.
The confusion in this case, I believe it is caused by not knowing exactly how wordpress works just yet, but it is something that will go away with a bit of experience.
In any case, if you read the page that I previously linked, you can’t go wrong: https://wordpress.org/plugins/geodirectory/installation/
Automatic installation is the easiest option. To do an automatic install of GeoDirectory, log in to your WordPress dashboard, navigate to the Plugins menu and click Add New.
In the search field type GeoDirectory and click Search Plugins. Once you’ve found our Directory plugin you install it by simply clicking Install Now.
Hope this helps,
Thank you
December 5, 2015 at 6:16 pm #62712Hi Paolo,
I’m quite experienced in using wordpress and have built over 20 wp sites complete with themes, plug ins and widgets.
But I am not a “techie”.
Perhaps, my original suggestion of labeling or grouping which are themes and which are plug ins which on the WPGeoD site would assist.
So I should install GeoD as a plugin to my existing theme? my mistake was that I thought that GeoD was a theme that came bundled with Geo plug ins.
But I did try installing the events plug in without sucesss. Does this require other plugins before it can work?
I’ll install GeoD now! ;>)
Kind regards,
Stuart
December 5, 2015 at 6:24 pm #62713Hi,
none of our themes come bundled with the plugin options. It wouldn’t make sense.
That is written in the description of all of our themes to avoid users from making wrong assumptions:
Example:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/themes/geodirectory-theme-framework/
You’re ready to level up and make your own awesome child themes! GeoDirectory Framework (GDF) is where you begin. Use GDF alongside the GeoDirectory plugin to create a complete WordPress directory theme. The Themes are built around the plugin and all require the core plugin to be installed to have a directory in it.
Events, just like all other add-ons, are indeed add-ons. They don’t work without GeoDirectory installed.
Thank you
December 5, 2015 at 6:29 pm #62714Cheers Paolo!
I’ve installed Geo D and listings now seem to be appearing.
Just one last issue.
I can’t get my right hand sidebar widgets to appear on the home page http://artilleryclub.ie .
I presume the widget area is GD Home right section.
Or is there a setting on the edit Home page I need to tweak?
Kind regards,
Stuart
December 5, 2015 at 6:33 pm #62716Hi,
the page you are currenlty using as home page is not a GeoDirecotry page.
It is a page with no title and ID 51. You can see that in Settings >> Reading.
Thanks
