I’m building the site on Safari…could that be the issue?
Part of me is confused about this whole thing to be 100% honest with you. I don’t understand how the things I’ve asked for can’t be fixed because of where it’s being hosted at.
Could this be too that my domain name is still hosted at GoDaddy? Even though the website itself is hosted with MDDHosting? That’s in the process of being transferred right now. They said it would take about 15 days.
Is the confusion coming from that if you login into the WP-Admin that you see the bar at the top still has a section that says “GoDaddy Settings?” I don’t know why that’s still there. It won’t go away, but the fact that it’s not clickable anymore proves to me that the website itself is no longer hosted on a GoDaddy server.
If the nameserver is showing up on IntoDNS that it’s pointing to MDDservices.com, then I’m not understanding where the confusion is coming from? Clearly it’s being hosted at the right site.
But at the end of the day, I’m honestly not understanding why the problems that I’ve outlined can’t be fixed based on where the site is being hosted at. Despite that fact that it IS indeed being hosted at MDDHosting.
I mean, I JUST logged into my girlfriend’s computer and the site propagated just fine for me. So I’m really not understanding the problem here.
Can I ask what browser you’re using? For some reason, I’ve been having problems with Google Chrome….like it took 72+ hours for changes to show up on it, whereas every other browser I was using was showing changes immediately.
My SOA Expire is about that long but after looking that up and doing a bit of research, that shouldn’t affect anything.
The nameserver still points to MDDHosting despite you telling me it’s still pointing to GoDaddy. I’m really confused on what the issue is here.
I know I’m relatively new to this…but everything I’m seeing at face value here seems to be correct.
See. Even on iPhone browser, it’s pointing to MDDHosting:
Yep. Sure did! I know this is gonna sound super rookie…have you tried clearing your history? I had to clear it on my end for some reason in order for the changes to show up.
Okay, perhaps now everything has propagated properly for this to be checked out?
Okay, I guess it’s now a matter of just waiting for the DNS to propagate everywhere? How long does that take? About 48 hours or so?
Okay, so I’ve switched everything over to MDDHosting and all seems to be working now as far as this problem goes.
Just facing some silly new problems now, but I’m sure it’s something I’m just overlooking.
The listings within the Popular Place View widget aren’t being sorted based on rating despite me having that option selected. Instead they’re being listed by how close they are to the ‘near me’ point.
Also for some reason now, when you do a search, you get a 404 and I can’t seem to figure out why. Anyone want to give the site a look and see if I’m overlooking something?
I guess that makes sense…
So is there any possible way to make it so that when someone arrives at the site, it defaults to showing what’s NEAR them within the 50 mile radius?
It used to default to automatically selecting “Near:Me” and would show the listings of those places underneath…it’s just that the zoom was funky. But now that the switcher is there it doesn’t do that anymore.
Surely there’s a way to make this happen.
Okay so some of the issues were fixed.
But, there are new problems now. So it seems that the site is successfully going to a city and at least geolocating there. The problem? I want it to pinpoint the user’s exact location and then give them a list of options NEAR them. Not a list of options in their exact city. Living in a big city like Orlando, people may want the option of visiting places that are in the Orlando area but not necessarily the downtown area (where it seams to be automatically geolocating)
This now also seems to be causing an issue with the mile radius now too. No matter how wide I set it, it still seems to only pinpoint the exact city rather than giving me options of “near me”
ALSO, when I do click the “Near Me” button I get a prompt saying “Browser unable to find your location”
So perhaps maybe this is contributing to the issue?
There really is no way of turning off their caching :/
Any solutions?
