There is no other way, you have to manually copy the changes you did.
Shortcodes are not supported in widget by default.
Make sure you have this code in your child theme.
add_filter('widget_text', 'do_shortcode');

Yes you can modify. But If you are going to modify bppress.php file, just copy that file to child theme and then modify it.
you have to enable show on listing option in custom fields
go to place settings -> custom fields -> expand address, contact, website fields and then enable show on listing option
Search results would look like yelp layout if you are using whoop theme.

@vacardona Yes I’ll create a setting for that. You can make it display in pages too.
I have added that sidebar blog pages. But looks like I have forgot to display it.

Give me steps of what you have done, where do you use this shortcode, page url, login details etc to debug this issue.
