Hi Kor.
Just wondering of you can give me any advice on the above (secondary) question re- moving the button to not overlap the +- ?
Thanks.
Ian
Hi Kor.
Many many thanks for that, really appreciated.
Just one quick last request. The ‘show listings’ button is just overlapping and covering the maps +- button ?
I have tries to find where the code / css is for this so i can attempt to add some padding to move it to the right a little. Just wondering if you could either let me know where to find this or if possible, send me a css snippet/ custom code to do this please?
Thanks again.
Ian

Oh just on a side note/ questions about OSM use.
1) Do you have any knowledge on what they deem as acceptable use of their tile server or the tile server that Geodirectory points to ?(say how many requests per day) before they will block use?
2) I assume the only way to change the look of OSM on GD (say to make it more google maps looking) is to run your own tile server and make changed there ?
3) If the answer to question 2 is yes (run your own title server) are there instructions or docs anywhere as to how to do this? or at least how to change settings (or code) to direct GD to find the new tile server location?
Just thing this is a good subject to cover / test as I’m sure there will be other users wanting to do this with Google price changes making is hugely expensive if you have any more than 900 map hits each day (i.e googles max 280000 free per month)
900 hits may seem a lot but when you think that any one user may view several places and look at several maps, this may easily see you top out the free allocation with under 100 unique visitors a day- which is nothing!.
FYI i’m happy to test all this and set up an OSM tile server on my servers, document it/ give an overview for others on how to do it if that would be of any interest to GD and their users.
Thanks as always Alex.

Thanks for the reply.
So is this an issue more to do with a set leaflet layout code or can this be fixed by css/ html in the geodirectory code possibly you think ?
Thanks.

This reply has been marked as private.Hi Alex, Paolo and Stiofan.
Thanks for the link.
From reading the link i have to say i agree with user ‘websitu’ on this …’Duplicating an address is not only annoying for the person entering the details but also increasing storage. I don’t see the point in collecting that data or am I missing something?’
I do totally understand Paolo’s response ‘because now you can link more than 1 listing, that is no longer possible. It was one or the other.’…. but i think this is a big mistake in choosing ‘the other’! – Yes you have added the ability for CPT’s to ‘link’ and a nice new added feature but …..at the sacrifice of a KEY feature that was really important to users …..the people who actually buy this plugin!
End Users (the ones that pay money to someones site that uses and have paid for this plugin) generally have a ‘place’ first and foremost and then add multiple ‘event’ listings on a ongoing repetitive
I do hope features are not being added to v2 just because they can be …at the expense of features that make your original plugin so great …as that would be disastrous. As i see it the main purpose and feature of a geo directory (and especially this one) is to have a user friendly way of submitting a ‘Place’ and or ‘Events’ associated with that place for other to find via geo-location.
The ‘Place’ is the critical number one listing as this has the address, location, contact details etc, but just as critical is the user of that Place to be able to
- easily
add multiple events that are at that place…without having to repeatedly add the location and other details of the place associated with that event…..every…single…time.
I have seen this time and time again in various companies and developments where features are changed or deleted or swapped for something else but with no forethought for the people that matters …the end user (and yes while the plugin owner is the one that calls the shots, the end user experience is what makes great plugins a success..or failure…so by that the end user is always the one that matters)
On each release of an addon i read the same pre-amble….’we have not added any or many new features- just improved the code’ which is fine and im really impressed with V2, well done guys….but I think in fairness to users you should actually state what now ‘does not work’ that you have sacrificed for the code for new features.- it would save a lot of time and questions all round.
BTW please…this is not a criticism, just an observation and offering constructive feedback. Hope its taken that way 🙂
Cheers.

Hi Alex.
On no! thats a real disappointment :(. One of the best link features of V1 was being able to link a business (place) to an event and with the click of a BUTTON- Auto fill the business details when adding an event. This was invaluable when a customer was adding events daily… I hope that this great feature and function will still be available in some way or another with v2, or are there no plans at all to keep this function ?

Hi Stiofan.
Thanks for the update, really appreciated. Its just always good to get an update after reporting any bug as it encourages me to test more when you hear updates / get feedback (else it seems like it if you hear nothing that it falls on deaf ears so your less inclined to bother testing 🙂 )
Just re- the user location (blue dot) it would be great if this could be working sooner than later as one of the key things id like to test is that the user location can be updated / refreshed on demand or when necessary ?
This was a key functionality issue with V1 (in my opinion) where if a user wanted to say find businesses where there were (location) and then drove to a different destination and wanted to check again quickly n (less than 30-40 mins) or change a search, it would not refresh the user location so the distance to business and maps was un-usable in those instances.- After all this is a geo-location directory where user location is paramount to functionality 🙂
I did raise this on v1 in the forum around June (https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/near-me-search-user-position-does-not-change-on-new-search/#post-433295) and you had a few ideas on how to fix this and have it working on V2, so just keen to test it and see it working (assuming it has been and does now work?)
Thanks again for all the great work- keep it up.
