Not ideal, but looks like I can change these over to Multi-Select/checkboxes with a single option to get the result I’m looking for.
Guust, could you or whoever else sees this ping Stiofan? What I’m wondering is if I could just go into phpMyAdmin, into the geodir_custom_fields table, figure out what the entry would look like for a Multi-Select/checkbox setting instead of Checkbox, and then make the edits there to convert the fields over?
Otherwise, I will have to remove them all and re-add them all on in the WPGD admin, which I know will take several hours.
Right now, time is not on my side, so I need to use the most cost effective approach I possibly can here.
cheers
Thanks Guust, but what I really want is the checkbox to work. It is clean and simple, doesn’t require having multiple answers/questions, and ideally, shouldn’t show up at all if nothing is checked. Or at least it should be.
It’s basically acting as radio selector as it is today…if you don’t select yes, we’ll assume no…but not selecting anything isn’t the same as selecting no.
At this point though, I don’t have much option but to rework these, which is made more painful as there are multiple instances across 11 CPTs. GD really needs a way to create and “apply” globally used fields across CPTs, rather than recreating this over and over again.

Highly recommend. The functionality that Jeff has built in brings the front-end presentation of business hours to a comparable level of “the big boys” like Yelp.

Great, thanks Stiofan. All in all, I think this was the best solution to prevent unexpected issues.

Wayne, in my case, if I remember right, is that I had the site behind a full authentication wall requiring login, so GD wasn’t able to get full communication back from PP.
I’m using a softer wall now that primarily blocks to the homepage or navigating the site unless you are logged in, and that communication seems to be working in testing now.

Okay, thanks Paolo
Thanks Stiofan, that helps.
If a different URL is set in GD, what exactly does that mean with regard to the content?
Is it just about creating a “pretty URL” or does it mean sending them to a page that we could or would need to customize?
Obviously there is some benefit with the GD URLs in not only confirming payment/submission, but also with the link to their listing, etc., that wouldn’t necessarily be there on a regular page without some coding.
cheers
Try experimenting with different amounts in the “Post Content excerpt character count” from within your widgets. I’d suggest starting with 160 and see if that takes care of it.
I’m not certain, but I think it might have something to do with the normal WordPress excerpt/more linking and GD. Depending on whether you have this blank, set to 0, or set at a higher or lower limit causes both to kick in.
Hope that helps.

Stiofan,
You’ll need to be logged in of course, but…
Auto Return It’s under the Profile and Settings > My Selling Tools > Website Preferences (look under “Return URL Requirements”)There’s also a number of other settings like “Payment Data Transfer,” “Encrypted Website Payments,” as well as Instant Payment Notification (IPN) under another section.
It would be helpful to know which of these we can configure, which are perhaps being handled automatically, and which are not supported, etc.
Auto Return would be nice as it would make the process more seamless and help get them back to the site right after purcahse.
Thanks.

Okay, thanks for the tip.

September 23, 2014 at 10:55 pm in reply to: Different days for events creates different listings #16333Was thinking more about this and wanted to share some thoughts.
I think the issue, perhaps, is actually less about spanning days and more about the type of event.
For instance,
Week long conference: probably best displayed once in the listing detail, spanning all days on the calendar, but all days are rolled up under a single listing which may need to list different start/end times by date. The event happens over several days, but the event is inclusive of those days.
Weekly recurring event: probably best displayed for each start date. Most likely these will be single date instances…start and end are within a single date. Think about a weekly meeting for a group or organization. While it happens on multiple days, say every Tuesday night, the specific event instance is each date.
The less likely challenge here might be a recurring event (weekly, monthly, etc.) that also spans days. Imagine a once a month event that spans the first Saturday and Sunday of each month. Each event instance is a Saturday-Sunday span, so each Saturday should show up in the listing detailing Saturday and Sunday, but there will be separate listings for this month, next month, etc.
Unfortunately, this might require some kind of user segmenting on submission, kind of like the “Different Event Times” breakout since it might be inaccurate to treat this as “consecutive days represent an event instance,” although that would probably work for +90% of the submissions.
Welcome other thoughts on this.

BrianSeptember 20, 2014 at 7:57 pm in reply to: Showing single quotes ' ' if you search shows nothing #15992Stiofan,
I’d suggest leading off with the CPT and/or category.
Examples:
Restaurant search results: {keyword} {location}
In this instance, no quotation marks are used.
Now regardless of the combinations, keyword and location, no keyword with location, keyword without location, neither keyword or location, you should have a presentable heading. With neither, you do have the colon, but I think this isn’t a huge issue.

Excellent Stiofan, thanks!
