Is anyone working on this? I really want to get this site stable so I can finally, after years and years of trying, actually launch a site with GD (coming from trying way back with Geotheme). Please help me get all this fixed.

I just noticed “Powered by GeoDirectory” is in welcome email. We paid for this and don’t want to brand GD. It’s enough work trying to get it going and stable, adding something that we will obviously need to remove is very frustrating. How do I remove this? I’m looking in the obvious place: GD/Settings/Emails/User Emails and I see the notification but I don’t see where “Powered by GeoDirectory” is.
This reply has been marked as private.I really hope this can be developed better. This site I’ve been wanting to launch for a year now is going to be heavy on the festival side. And they’re almost always more than one day with varied times. And some events don’t have an end time. And some are to be determined meaning they don’t have a time yet.
The only thing I can think of is this featured field must only be intended for backend purposes. Or maybe something more I’m not yet thinking of…
Wow, if this couldn’t get any weirder. So, I just went back to the event listing that I started to change to featured. The blue bar was there “Hey, we found some unsaved changes from earlier and are showing them below. If you would prefer to start again then please click here to remove this revision.” and this time the custom field FEATURED WAS CHECKED! And the featured option (because it remembered my changes that I did not submit).
I went ahead and cleared the changes, submitted the event listing free to start over, went back to edit the event listing, selected featured and featured field appeared and was not checked, then I went through with checkout and at least everything worked in that the listing is in fact featured (with the banner at least). Then I went back to edit the listing again and the custom field featured was checked. So, if this field is intended to give the end user a way to opt out of being featured ideally it would be checked it is activated/when a featured listing is selected.
Ok, so to make things even more confusion, I excluded the custom field featured from the free packages and included it in the paid featured packages. Now when I go to add an event, which defaults to the free, then select the featured package the custom field featured appears and it’s unchecked.
So, it seems the custom field featured only is checked by default on the free package but it is not on the paid package that’s actually featured. There goes my idea that maybe this featured custom field was possibly for paid packages to give people an option to have it featured. Because it should be by default featured since this is a package promoted as such.
What is this featured field for?

I thought it would be a nice field for admin (showing only admin) when adding a listing I could just select right there to make it featured. This would work great if it wasn’t checked by default. So, what’s the point in the featured field?
What I’m specifically after is something that will, like with Supreme Theme, show a chosen image when sharing the homepage. When sharing the Supreme Theme homepage no image shows. So, I have no idea how to make an image show for the homepage. Using open graph through fb api would force an image but this would interfere with the image used for listings, which is a bad thing. I looked for 3rd party plugins but I’m not sure there’s anything for the homepages specifically. Yoast may work if I recall correctly, but I’m afraid to use Yoast or any 3rd party solutions until I have everything figured out and running good with GD.
Thanks Alex, but apparently you don’t understand the problem. Nothing about what I’m telling you is “weird” or “incorrect”. Here’s why:
Go to a video on YouTube and click “share”. The first option is “embed”. The embed automatically defaults to those dimensions that you call weird. This was not a problem in GD V1. V2 breaks this somehow presumably causing every listing in every GD site that used this embed code to show videos all crazy squished.
There’s nothing weird about 560 by 315, that is a stand ratio for video.
The attached images show what I am talking about. Yes, I can try to instruct people to only use the share link and not use the embed code. But, that may not prevent it from happening, doesn’t fix all the listings that used embed, and takes away the benefit from using embed (because if I recall correctly there was some in regard to either playlists and/or showing channel videos instead of random videos). And embed gives more options (e.g. player controls, privacy…) than the link.
Thanks, I understand anything is possible with customization. But, this seems like something that would be already included to make your product objectively better. I am not a developer and I’m trying to save customization efforts/expenses for things that absolutely are not expected from GD that are beyond the scope of GD. This just seemed like something simple to improve the user interface/experience that you could include. But, maybe it’s more involved than I understand or maybe it really isn’t even necessary, lol. Lastly, customizing something that you may include would be redundant and therefore a waste of customization efforts. Thanks for your response though and considering it for future integration! 🙂

I think the listing was already published, I was just updating/renewing a listing.
