For the “Listing” page, this page and other GD pages (those at GD Permalinks) are not compatible with builders. This will change in V2.

I’m curious, is this suppose to work, because I keep getting the feeling that you say it doesn’t but it does. I created a page called “locale” and then in permalinks changed “location” to this new “locale” page and it works. Now the location switcher pulls up the locale page. And, its’ cool, not entirely perfect, but it works for the most part. Is it not suppose to work in some way? It would be awesome if all the pages, or at least, the “lists” and “location” page worked in this way; create a page, change permalink, build, add shortcode where you want, and bam! 🙂

Thanks, I’ll look into Jaguar right away, how familiar are you with them? Does it matter where they’re located?

Guust, yes sir, Eastern US, North Carolina. However, I hope to make this global. I hope to have a friend in UK and/or Israel that is also a content developer start using the site when it’s established and the affiliate program plugin is integrated…

I know I’ve asked this somewhere else, but I’m curious, do you happen to know the best hosting solution for WPGeodirectory? Hope you don’t mind me asking in this thread… I’ve already seen Cloudways, I’d like something else to consider as well…

Thanks Kor, that worked good enough for now. However, if you want to see what happened I explain it here in this video:

Thanks Stiofan, I’m very excited about the release of GDv2! I think my site is almost functional enough right now. I don’t want to use another theme because I need to get busy blogging and stylizing each blog with this current theme (although I may switch from elegant themes Extra to Divi, both use Divi builder, but I am currently on the fence about which I may use).

Thank you for your patience with me. I am very curious, do you expect to release it this year? in a couple months? a couple weeks? what’s the prognosis?

Lastly, in addition to the location switcher issue being resolved there are only two other issues I see with these plugins being a vastly practical solution for most people.

One is the so called caching issues with Godaddy’s (perhaps the most popular hosting company in the world) managed wordpress (although I’m not sure what those issues are exactly). This has me concerned about building a site there and a better hosting solution has not been offered. Or, do you think I am ok with Managed WordPress since I’m not using anything other than GD plugins and elegant themes?

The other is the ability to create a page to use in place of the GD listing pages (e.g. these pages https://veganlinked.com/food/united-states/north-carolina/charlotte/ and https://veganlinked.com/in/united-states/north-carolina/charlotte/) using Divi Builder (one of the best/most popular theme builders in the world) and GD shortcodes. I can create a page to use in place of the “location” page and build it using Divi builder and GD shortcodes (see: https://veganlinked.com/locale/united-states/north-carolina/charlotte/). I just have to change it in the GD/Permalinks and it works awesome! now if I could just do the same thing for the Lists that would be AWESOME because then I could customize the most important pages throughout my site with Divi Builder and make it look uniform, which is very important and really means your plugins are very compatible!

So, do you think those two issues and the location switcher integration will be resolved? This will help me know how to move forward from this exact point, right now! Thanks again!

    LOCATION SWITCHER “COUNTRY” ISSUE
Stiofan, in the location switcher sometimes “Country” is too big and the “y” at the end drops down. (see image) How can we resolve this?

CAN I USE GD MENU IN ET THEME TO SOLVE LOCATION SWITCHER ISSUES?
Also, I know I’ve asked this in another post, but I did not get an appropriate response and it is relevant here so no need to “mark it as duplicate” Alex. Is there a way to use a GD menu instead of the ET menu and still use the ET Theme? I’ve looked everywhere, I know how to create a menu and select it both from the backend and front end. And, I have tried through the GD/Design/Navigation. I just figured if I can use the GD menu then that may resolve the location switcher issues I’m having with it not working in mobile view.

WOULD RATHER USE ET MENU, CAN YOU MAKE IT WORK SOON?
I noticed that you did in fact get the location switcher to almost work. Thanks for trying. Do you think you can actually resolve that soon? It would be great to use in ET and it look and functions excellent otherwise.

GAP AT IN MOBILE MENU MODE, ONLY WITH GD PLUGINS
Lastly, the location switcher in mobile view has this awfully enormous gap at the top (see attached images one with location switcher one without it). And, before you blame it on ET Alex, none of my other ET sites have this gap (see last image for wwww.neofilm.us and I would show you http://www.DerekMcCoyMusic.com doesn’t have a gap either but I can’t upload anymore images… you can go there though).

Thanks, the CSS worked! It worked within GD Scripts (therefore it’s GD not ET). That fixed the title. See, this was a bug because the title for content should not be in the top section, it’s for the content, therefore it should be in the content section, not all ugly off to the far left. Come on man, this is buggy looking ugly.

The ET theme designed pages are fine, the GD pages are not. I made this very clear. The CSS you gave me was for a GD issue, that issue was the title being in a horrible place (therefor a bug in my opinion). It was not at all an ET issue. Also, the footer not going across is only an issue on the GD pages, therefore it is GD related not theme related. And, because these plugins are supposed to be “plugins” and not effecting the theme (esp. a theme as popular as Elegant themes) herein is yet another bug because the footer is not uniform suddenly on these GD pages.

If these plugins could be used as shortcodes within the themes modules for the main directory pages like the lists page then we wouldn’t be having this problem layout problem in the footer. Therefore, the layout/footer issue is a bug caused by another issue/not being completely compatible with ET/a huge theme developer.

GD is so close to perfect. Just make the shortcode work in the module and enable us to select alternative to GD pages for the lists like we can do for the location page in permalinks and GD will be significantly more compatible and enjoyable. in the meantime show me how to fix the footer.
