I added a video of this issue here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EhqqAryszM

Windows 10, Google Chrome. I would love to do a video for you to show you this and any/everything else I experience issue wise. It may be easier in some ways… I may do that… it’s just hard to invest more time on it than I already have. I’ll see if I can squeeze it into my workflow…
Guust, thanks, but this link does not provide any useful information. I spent a lot of time breaking this down for you to troubleshoot. Please take the time to read what I have put here and test the demo as I am to see what I am seeing. I am assessing the functionality, usability and intuitiveness of the search features and reporting my findings to help you improve this product. It clearly has issues in the Supreme Theme demo.
When I arrive to the site I click ok to allow geolocation to show listing near me. The only thing that appears to happen as a result of this is the “near me” check box is selected. That is all. I am not redirected as you say to a location page with listings around me. If I scroll down I see popular places in New York and this is not near me.
Next, if I scroll back up and select the search icon next to the near me icon I am brought to a search page and get zero results as I should. Only, now when I click on the near me icon the near me check box is not selected. So, I got no results and I cannot deselect near me to at least see something. Then I select the search icon and get a pop up saying search is not successful because of zero results. Basically, the near me field should be checked still so I can clear it because I cannot clear what is already clear.
The next logical thing was to go to the “location switcher” where it says “Change Location” and this is already at “everywhere” even though it isn’t showing anything anywhere.
So, what I’m getting at is this. When being Geolocated initially I should then see whatever is within 40 miles of me on the home page and this is not happening. Then when I select search the near me field should be checked when I arrive to the search page so I can uncheck it. And, the location switcher should show my location so I know to switch it there.
I just tried the supreme theme demo and it appears to be perfect! Thanks!!!! I’m sure everyone using this feature will really appreciate this fix.
I did notice something else. On the home page a popup appears asking if I want to be geolocated. Then I select “ok” and near me is clearly then checked. But, then if I click a category from below that in the “popular categories” widget (e.g. attractions) I am brought to the search page. The search page doesn’t show near me results but the search page still shows near me checked as if the results are near me. It is not until I select the search icon adjacent to near me that the results show listing near me. Furthermore, this seems to defeat the point in being geolocated if the search results don’t show at least distance from me and results sorted based on my location (nearest first).
I didn’t add it to disable physical location. I don’t know what happened but luckily I have everything backing up every day 🙂 So, I was able to restore it all!
If a site has listings near me and far from me and I select “near me” and it shows listings in proximity the functionality of near me is great. When unticking/deselecting near me does NOTHING the next obvious thing to would be to click on the search icon adjacent to it. When clicking the search icon adjacent to it renders nothing WHEN IT SHOULD DELIVER EVERYTHING the site now appears broken. You’re right, it’s not a bug, it’s worse. Clearly unticking “near me” should “undo near me” and if that alone doesn’t result in all the listings showing then at least clicking the search icon should.
What is one suppose to do after the site renders no results? Sites are suppose to maintain attention. When people start getting confused they often leave your site frustrated never to return. If it’s not “buggy” it’s at least very stupid. In the end, who cares what it’s called, it sucks. So please fix/change it so the search icon clears near me and searches everything as it should.
I guess I’ll just disable near me for now. How do I simply remove/disable just the near me feature beside the search field?
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! 🙂
This is driving me nuts. I finally move forward a little with the location switcher and now I cannot figure out for the life of me why the Address fields are missing from the add listing page. I don’t have any categories “disable physical location” in GD/General.
But, I managed to somehow mess up things. Now the address fields are not showing on the add listing page 🙁
I figured it out, I had enable default on too many options under location settings. Thanks!
