    Hi Jonah:

The short answer is “No”, not using pre_get_posts as WP_Query won’t understand the extra tables. It’s one thing I really don’t like about the GeoDirectory architecture.

That said, have a look at some of the other filter options, like “posts_where” and related.

For sending notices to new owners, you’d want to look at Mandrill.com, a companion service to MailChimp. MailChimp keeps lists and lets you send to the lists. Mandrill is called a “transactional” email service and is better suited for these 1 time sends. There is a WP plugin for Mandrill.

It’s free for up to 12,000 emails per month and you can import your MailChimp templates, but it usually requires a bit of tweaking.

Nope. The guys testing gave me a TON of awesome notes and found some real problems / annoyances, so I’m working on a new version to fix those issues and some others.

I’ll post when it’s ready. I may need another test, and will keep you in mind.

There’s some things that MailChimp is good for, and others it’s not.

There is a MailChimp plugin that you could add to your site to collect people’s email for newsletters. It should work great with GD and is how MailChimp is meant to be used.

It’s expressly against MailChimp’s Terms of Service for you to export your list of emails (listing owners or whatever) and then import it into MailChimp to then send out a bunch of emails. That’ll get you banned.

Thanks folks. I’ve sent the first version to 3 testers and will wait for their feedback.

If you guys want to test, it’s best to email me jeff at jeff rose dot ca, and I’ll email you the copy.

BoxPortable: GeoDirectory custom fields. Simple for now. It’s not as elegant as I’d like, but it does work. Love to hear any ideas or advice you have.

I’ve replied to Manilaboy privately by email. Those issues were all resolved in the update after this message.

The testing is coming along well, with only a couple of minor issues remaining, and then I’ll put it into ThemeTailors.

Roger, I’ve been informed that Private replies are for site admins here – or moderators etc. I don’t have access if that was a comment for me.

Not at this time. I have a couple of clients on maintenance packages. I’m about to change my job situation and may look at something like this in the near future.

It was in the main post, but Paolo added it to the sidebar:

Each month you get 5 votes to distribute. You can choose to use all your votes for one idea you really like, or spread them across between several ideas 🙂

As mentioned above, I’m asking for a couple of people to test it.

It’s basically identical to the current version but handles integration with GeoDirectory. You can choose to show the coupon on a tab, it integrates with the new pricing system etc.

Contact me at jeff at-symbol jeffrose dot ca if you want to try it out. It is probably not 100% ready for a live site, although I don’t know of any specific problems.

Paolo, is it considered a conflict if ambitious developers take on a project form this list?

    Just checking.

Roger, if you or anyone would be interested in beta-testing the plugin for me, let me know and I can give you the current work.

It’s essentially a port of the original with good integration with GeoDirectory.

Obviously once it’s ready, I’ll put it up for sale, but I need a couple of testers first.
