Hey, Even I use Gostats, It works much better then other counter also I found it easy to install & it is user friendly. It help me a lot to get details information about visitors visits & hits.
Sometime Google analytics tracks traffic from invalid source, It counts bounce rate as a unique visitors Probably, thats why you are getting huge traffic. Ensure that the configuration is correct, Otherwise try something else like Gostats. It is easy to install & shows accurate report.
I was facing the same problem then I tried GoStats, It is easy to install as compared to Google analytics & works in an efficient way. Try GoStats it might be helpful for you
