With all due respect — and I love GeoDirectory — but this response is often provided w/r/t really basic, really useful feature requests.
The product would be even more amazing if these features were part of the core backlog.
This reply has been marked as private.Hi..
I did a bunch of things (resintalled plugin, changed water, etc) but it ended up being a cache issue at my host. Their admin tool does a pretty good — but not 100% — job clearing the cache. Once they did it at the server level, it cleared out properly.
C’est la vie.
Thanks!

I can see that there are a few decisions to make on the taxonomy of my listings. Glad there are a few choices.
Thanks for the additional information. Super helpful.

Regarding:
I’d suggest to use tags instead to group listings for “fake” locations.
In case you decide anyway to use it like that, you will need to disable :
Disable Google address autocomplete?
Disable set address on map from changing address fields
Disable move map pin from changing address fieldsYou’re saying those changes would be required for “fake” locations? I can live with Tags for the regions.
I want to include a lot of locations that won’t have a street address but which could be included in a city. I’ve done that with Emerald Bay… any suggestions for that?
Can you tell me the widget name for the zoom control?
And thanks, your answers were most helpful. I’ve gotten quite a bit more comfortable with the app just messing with it more this morning.

This is what I’ve figured out so far:
Each “location” — being a city, needs to have two listings otherwise the map defaults to global. Is there any way to change the max zoom level?I have map listing locations in northern california and southern california, so if I go to “Everywhere”, it shows me a really big map of California. I kind of like this, but would love to have a “Northern California” super region and a “Southern California” super region with a set zoom level. Any way of hard coding this?
June 28, 2016 at 3:44 pm in reply to: A few general questions about Multi-Locations: arbitrary locations, etc. #217571Reading further, in reference to this:
“As standard, GeoDirectory can be setup from a single location and listings can be added only for that location, but with our Location Manager plugin, you can let users set the location of their listings and the location will be stored in your locations database. This means visitors can then select any added location and browse listings only from that area (you can also browse from “Everywhere”).
The areas you can filter listings by are: Countries, regions, city or neighbourhoods. Apart from neighborhoods all other areas can be added by a user when they add their listing. So the location does not have to be in your database for a user to be able to add a listing.”
If I’m running a directory where I’m not really intending for users to be the ones adding listings, is there a reason to create locations if they’re just going to be created from listings..?
June 27, 2016 at 9:52 pm in reply to: [newbie] Multi-Location + Directory Starter, no "Change Location" menu item #217185Aha, I had to create a menu and add the GD Home Page and then it showed up.
Not entirely sure I understand what I did and how to modify that, but that helped a lot and I’m past the hump.
Thanks!
