I use Content Views plugin to display posts by topic and that is not a problem – displays ok.
I also have the wordpress “latest posts” chronological blog post roll available under my “Home” navigation tab. When I follow that latest posts tab to the chronological list of posts, I find that the featured photo is cut very small and often a very awkward selection. If there is no featured photo, then no other photo is taken from the post to accompany the preview in the list.
This is, I suppose, the GD template default simple layout.
The problem arises because somehow that “latest post” layout is not responsive to either WordPress “reading” setting (for each article in a feed show full text / summary) or plugins I have tried to use to change blog layout or to blog template edits.
I would like to change the article preview layout to be more like the layout I achieve with the Content Views plugin but I just can’t seem to find any way to edit it.
Thanks

I like the Google map search bar so I found this:
https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/place-search
This code will give a lovely search bar with places drop down – only I don’t know how to get it to work with the home page map.
If I did get it to work by finding a place on the map, I am not sure whether that works with the listings.
I want users to find any location on my map (with or without a listing in that locality) and then be able to see where there are any listings relative to whatever location is searched.
I am especially aiming my site at families who are moving – often very great distances to somewhere they do not know anything about. They might search e.g the new barracks or the nearest large town to a barracks or new work locality etc.
Ok, thanks, I appreciate that.
Will a Google-places-search-bar be possible for the map?
Thanks,
LiseOuch, goodness me! Thanks for fixing that.
I suspected I had done something I shouldn’t do but could not backtrack to figure out what I had done.
Thanks,
LiseThis reply has been marked as private.Ok, thanks. Yes, I know – funny how issues resurface when I did not quite solve them the first time around.
I have set the default location to Australia, which at least takes away the issue with place names unique in Australia. Postcode search is still not working well. The Near search without the autocompleter will have to do for now.Is it possible to set a placename search for the map that works similar to the Near in listing search, i.e. proximity?
The current map search box is not very useful because people search places not listing names.
The location switcher I can add to the navigation bar has the same problem as the Autocompleter does for listing search. Proximity will be much better.
When I use the Near autocomplete, it only makes a database search for the listing with that locality in the address rather than what I want, which is to show all results starting with whichever is nearest the location name searched; a proximity search.
So, for Geelong, I also want to show Newtown and all other surrounding suburbs so people can see whatever listing is proximate. If I use Near autocomplete, I will not even get up Geelong College. For Swanbourne, it only shows one school but not several very nearby schools that have other suburb names in the address but are still considered “Swanbourne schools”.
Is would be very useful to have the proximity feature and not only for the “near me” geolocation (where it is set to 40kms I think). Have you considered this functionality already but decided against it or should I submit a new feature request?
Thanks,
LiseHi,
I’m on the GoGeek plan from Siteground. I attached the specs with screenshots of the plan.I have more than 10 000 listings. (Not making me rich though. It is the start of a charity/not-for-profit project).
Would it help to e.g. repair my tables? I have optimized the tables already.
Not sure what specs I would have to look for if I am to upgrade. I seem to be short on cpu seconds. I that relevant to the slow queries?
Appreciate feedback on this.
Thanks,
LiseThat’s great. I straightened out now, thanks
Just getting so nervous something is not working as I’m getting ready to advertise.
Cheers,

I think that actually solves it. I have assumed that when I am the admin, I will see what the client sees – hence panicking when I am checking listings. I realize that must not be the case, only the author sees the upgrade or renew link.
Is there any way to make the free trial package only available once. I want to make it available without the PayPal sign up. Obviously, I want clients to upgrade not renew a free try-out package.
I have tried accessing the edit screen from the front end and updated but no change.
Not sure why it would only affect new listings, probably the listings created after the packages.
I have noticed that for CPT business – checking on a listing that will expire soon – and it has no upgrade option. Not sure if this has to do with the listing being verified by owner. I would like the listing owner to be able to upgrade the free trial listing obviously.(Einstein College)
In the backend, everything looks fine for all listings.
