Yes, it does help, Stiofan. The remaining question is whether I will need a developer.
Will I be able to submit these apps to the app stores out of the box or will I need to use something like PhoneGap?
Thanks, Guust.
Sorry I took so long to reply. Yes, everything seems to be working great. Thanks!
Plugins have been updated.
Yes, I changed ‘franchise’ in the language files because my clients have locally-owned chain stores and the word ‘franchise’ sounds too corporate for them :).
I hope the subdirectory structure isn’t the problem – it will be a nightmare to change it at this point.

I can’t recall what search term I used earlier, but now I see that it’s working; however, when I search ‘soap’ in Chemainus, I get the listing but the map shows no results. Did I miss a setting?
I am glad that you wrote back, Guust. It is often difficult to communicate the exact problem online.
Thanks.
No, it was I who misunderstood how the add-on would work. I just created new listings in each city to make it easier to search based on the franchises listed. The add-on is helpful for payment processing and providing the chain store info. for my particular directory.
It can’t be all things for all people, right? 🙂
Thank you Paolo.
Yes, I’ve tried the franchise add-on. I was expecting to see the franchises show up on the main map/listing page in all cities within the region. For example, if someone is searching for ‘natural soap’ in Victoria, Duncan or Chemainus, the Saltspring Soapworks franchise should show up.
The way the add-on works, I have to know about the company already to find their chain stores. Someone shopping for soap in Victoria might just see the Saltspring address and not bother looking further to see the chain stores. For the purposes of my website, this doesn’t add much value to business owners.
If this is not an option, I’ll just add regular listings instead of using the add-on. I just wanted to clarify whether I was missing something in the settings.
Thanks.
It was the Geodirectory/Design/Nav step that was missing…found this in the forum from last February. I didn’t expect to have to change any GD settings when changing themes. It’s all good. Thanks.
Hello, to enable the location switcher, first create a menu in Appearance/menu, then link it to GD going to Geodirectory/Design and in the navigation tab select your menu, and then go to the MultiLocation settings and rich the option where it says “Show location switcher in menu”
It’s the same site as in previous comments: madelocalapp.com/canada
I’ve updated Directory Starter and activated my child theme on this site and have lost the location switcher in the primary menu. It’s definitely a child theme issue because it shows up when I reactivate Directory Starter. What instructions should I put in my functions.php?
Okay, thanks Giri!
The theme works, I’m just wondering if there is a way to transfer the customization I’ve done in the Directory Starter theme to the child theme.
