Hi Paolo,
I just updated (Core and Framework) but search still doesn’t work. Are more updates coming up?
Thank you, Paolo. I will wait for that update and let you know if it works. Again, feel free to login and test my site if needed.
No worries. Please keep us posted when the search function is fixed. Feel free to access and play with my site. We’re not live yet.
Where can I find it?
geodir_signup.php is not in the child theme folder.

See screenshot. No results found although there’s a listing in the City of Buena Park and nearby cities. Pagination also shows up which shouldn’t happen if there are no listings.
Are there hotel listings anywhere in California? Or in the entire USA?
As a typical traveller, I expect to see the nearest hotels in the nearest locations to show up unless there are no hotels listed on the entire site which is rare if you offer hotels. They won’t because I am initially restricted to San Francisco without realizing I need to click Everywhere.
That is what’s missing. Perhaps adding regional and country level geolocation will solve this. Perhaps adding an extra button somewhere showing Other Listings Near San Francisco will work as well. I don’t really know what’s the best approach to solve this and I am just relying on you guys. 🙂

It will work even better if listings within a certain radius or geolocation level show up. In my case, Buena Park has only one listing which is a very small city in Orange County, California. Orange County has lots of cities but only the same one listing in Buena Park shows up no matter what how you zoom the map. Users will not immediately realize they need to switch to everywhere.
If you do a location search, no results found although there are many around Buena Park. It will not even show up anything if you enter Buena Park in the search location input. This makes it even worse.
By the way, the demo site still directs me to San Francisco and see no map and no records found.

Did you try the suggestions my hosting company provided?
I am still having two problems:
1. location search now showing any results although locations are in my database
2. default category map icon not showing up on home page map although it was set on add listing formThank you, Paolo. Now I understand it better. Perhaps I asked the wrong questions. Yes, Geolocation will be way better if it can be set to more than a just single city. I never thought it was designed that way.
I disabled maidclassifieds already. I hope I can find another solution. My users expect to see maid service companies in their location along with nearby locations since their own city may not have any. 🙂
Thanks, Paolo.
That’s one of my concerns as well. He was able to access my GD test site (maidclassifieds.com) before and it’s hosted on the same server. My host made some suggestions and I posted it on the other thread for Vikas.
Anyway it seems that it’s too late now. Just to clarify one last time:
1. GD geolocation will detect the user’s location if user allows it
2. Then in his future visits to the site, GD will show listings (places) ONLY in the user’s location (if available) and nothing else unless user clicks on EverywhereIn short, the geolocation combined with the location switcher acts as a location filter that will not show nearby listings regardless of proximity to the selected location. It does not matter if the nearby listings is only a few feet apart. If they are not in the exact city, they will not be visible to the user unless he clicks on Everywhere.
Please confirm if this will be the permanent settings and no hope for me to have this changed in the future.
As a last resont, will it be closer to what I am looking for if I just disable geolocation?
Hi Paolo,
Vikas was asked exactly about weedmaps and restaurantplease. I am not sure if you read the entire thread so here is my question with his reply (REPLY #2861):
Me:
Hi Vikas,
These directories has nice geolocation features:
http://www.restaurantplease.com
Will GD have similar or better geolocation? Will it be available in the next version?
Vikas:
yes for sure.
Thanks
