Perfect,
thank you.
OK, that might be that I actually only checked the sub-cetagory from the backend. As long as the main category get’s automatically checked when a front end user just checks the sub-category, everything is fine 🙂Thanks a lot for your quick reply, looking forward to the answer from the developers and if the first bullet ends up on the roadmap. Would be great.
Thanks,
TomSeptember 19, 2014 at 12:55 pm in reply to: Showing single quotes ' ' if you search shows nothing #15873I do also think that the behavoiur is not ideal.
Background: Lets say I have differet custom post types. For example “Hotels”, “Restaurants”, “Pubs”.
In many applications of GD, the user will be looking for a restaurant or bar in a certain place – but he will not want to use another keword. Because he is already in the right category.
So also in my application, I marked the “Keyword” Field as optional, in order not to confuse the users. (People might use it to look for a specific name, but in general, they don’t need it.)
So in most cases, in the search results you will have as a result “Search for ” “, wich looks bad.My suggestion: Make it simply “Search results”, and the “for ”” appears only, when something was entered in the keyword field. When the keyword was left empty, please don’t show the “for ‘ ‘ “.
Thanks,
TomSeptember 1, 2014 at 11:16 am in reply to: Different Tab names for different fields in Custom Posts #13907Hi Stiofan,
thanks for the quick answer. Here’s what I think would be perfect:
When defining the fields that will be included in the listings of a certain post type, there could be a checkbox that sais “Make Tab”. If I check that, this field will become its own Tab on the listings detail page, with the title of the field being the Name of the Tab. (If not, It would simply added to the “more info” tab like it is now.)
That would also solve another problem:
I bought the “custom post types” extension. So I have lets say a post type “hotels”, and one “restaurants”. Currently, I would have the general tabs “profile” and “more info”. Even if I rename them, they would have to be general to fit both post types.
With the concept above, I could use fields like “Our Hotel” and “Rooms” for the Hotel, and “Our Menu” and “Our Story” for the restaurant post type. Much more sexy & appealing, I think.
It would be great if I could actually hide the general profile field. Or I would use it as some kind of “short description”, but unneccessary fields quickly confuse visitors.Does that make sense?
Kind regards,
TomOK, thank you.
Got it, perfect, thanks.
Perfect, thanks. It leaves an empty frame – but that’s something I can live with.
Kind regards,
TomOK, then I guess CSS would be OK … but this one did not change anything on the details page.
I was talking about this element on the listings detail page, right?
(Please see pic)
Any other idea?
Thank you very much,
TomGreat minds think alike 😉
… that’s what I thought – but had no idea what to do. Now I have, thanks. I’m really learning a lot at the moment 🙂Hey, I’m not sure about the “add to favorites” function, yet. If I like it or not. I case I wanted to hide it – what would I have to do? Would also CSS be the best way to go, or would it be better to take it away at another point? Maybe before it get’s “created”?
Thanks,
TomGot it, thanks:

perfect, thanks.
“just enough styling to make everything look right” would be sufficient, of course.
Cheers,
