Update: I downloaded Widget Logic, used conditional tags, and created custom menus to be displayed in the side bar with a list of popular cities. It does the job and looks great!
However if you have any other suggestions to filter events/food, etc. by city? — I’d love to try that to see how it looks. Otherwise I’ll continue with Widget logic and custom menus. 🙂

Thank you so much Alex! The error’s gone now, I created a different page as you suggested above and used that too.
Quick question, when I select “Events” from the menu, it shows events for all cities. Is there a way to select from a drop down or something the name of the city we want to show the events for only? (Besides typing the city name in the search bar, of course).
I initially thought that that’s what the location switcher was used for but I can see now that it only shows the home page filtered for the selected city.

Thanks so much Guust. Glad I have the confirmation that we cannot just duplicate GD template pages as I kept trying to do so. By the way, the shortcode [gd_location_switcher] shows up as is, in text form, in the test page. Could you please confirm it’s the correct shortcode?
