Anyways thanks for the reply and thanks for the software :-). Life is too short and precious to keep any grudges.

    Hi Paolo

I had read the documentation well before approaching the support here.

In the screenshot I sent you the coordinates were WRONG. And you did not notice it? That was why I was saying the admins are not doing their job.

And you gave me a deadlock solution to insert dummy data when it cannot be inserted BEFORE setting default location with which I was having problems in the first place.

May be I am dumb to put wrong co-ordinates. But that is what google gave. And the button “set address map” WAS NOT working. That was the main problem for me.

I had given you the admin rights, so you could have started from scratch to set the location and dummy data and then I could have seen and learnt. That is what all other software support guys did for me in the past.

I am not a techie and have asked all sorts of dumb questions at many support forums but this is the first forum where the admin has replied to me rudely.
And if you think I was and am rude then please pardon me.

    Found it!

I wish the admins had pointed this out to me, rather than me scratching my head over this since 2 days.

The latitude and longitude of the cities were the issue. I was googling for my city’s coordinates and copy pasting them. So I tried to fill with exactly same city as https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/basic-installation/ says, which is Los Angeles and google gives its coordinates as 34.0500° N, 118.2500° W which I copy pasted as is in each field. AND IT DOES NOT WORK. I instead did a 34.0500 and -118.2500 as shown in the basic installation screenshot and it worked. Now I do not know when I have to use + or – but I guess I can play with it and make it work.

And now the “insert dummy data” button is also working.

So it looks like the person answering my support questions does not really know the software, otherwise he would not have suggested me to insert dummy data BEFORE setting default location because that dummy data button does not work unless you set the default location.

    #1. I am following https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/basic-installation/

The Step 4. shows a map, which mine does not. And step 4 is BEFORE step 5 of dummy data. So there is nothing wrong with me.

#2. I had done step 5. too. But this green button does nothing although the documentation says following: “After clicking “Insert Sample Data” there will be a short wait while we download the dummy images and create the dummy address info for your default location, there is a ajax counter displaying progress and it will let you know when done.”

No solution yet from the developers. Have not heard from them after I gave my site credentials. It is a new site, freshly installed WP (twenty twelve theme), with no other plugins except Akismet
