Nevermind, I figured it out. I rebuilt the widgets and it worked.

I deactivated the plugins and deactivated the Events plugin. Then activated the Events plugin and I did get all the fields except for the category. I had originally added a custom taxonomy field because it wasn’t originally displayed. So I removed my custom fields, deactivated and activated the events plugin and magically I got the category field displaying. Yah! so that took care of that issue. My events also are displaying on the map. Again that is awesome.
My other issue though of clicking on the calendar widget which takes you to a search page that displays the events for that day still does not return any results. I have attached a screenshot for you. Do you think I am still missing something?

Unfortunately I am not seeing those fields you are referring to. In my Event Information section there were originally no fields in there. I have since gone in to the settings area and added the taxonomy and phone number fields. I have attached screenshots of the backend entry area so you can see that the fields are not there.
Also my Events are not appearing on the map. I have assigned them a category as you can see from my previous attachment. I can only set the category however in the “Quick Edit” section. When I view the Event in the regular Edit mode I don’t see the event category field anywhere.
