When I go to Appearance_Widgets I don’t see any GD spots to put widgets in? Just global sidebar, footers, etc.

I have set a price package for “featured” listings and set the sort function on “Design”_”Detail” for “Featured”, but the base directory front end page does not show a search with featured coming up first. It is stuck in last input mode. Is there somewhere else I need to set this “featured” function?
