I forgot to add this as a previous conversation just FYI
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/location-switch-errors-on-mobile/
The Location Switcher does not work correctly on the mobile device. It does NOT display the correct cities based on the State (Region) selection (like the filter is not working or something). I don’t know if the same issue exists with Country because I only have Places in the USA right now, but I think this check be checked/tested.
It seems to work fine on the laptop.
Also, it the location switcher does not work smoothly on the mobile devise. Lots of little glitches like it keeps defaulting back to everywhere on Country. After country is selected and the page reload you go to select Region and the Country selection pops up – you have to close that out retouch the region and then in most cases the regions appear (but not all of them – same problem as with the cities). Then the same balky behavior with selecting the cities.
I have been meaning to ask the same thing except i only want to see city & state (region). Street address only os not useful especially when looking at zoomed out info.
Thanks
Awesome! Can you make sure that things get filter out correctly? For example, when United States is selected for the country, then ONLY States in the United States are available for selections in Regions, and then only the cities in the selected States (Region) are available?
Any way to “ajaxify” the Location Switcher? Having the page reload at every step is kinda crappy JMHO.If not Iit would be a least a bit helpful if users/visitors could set a default Country
Thank you for the update!
Stacey
A lot of people said it was a good product for security LOL! I see you’re not a fan. I have no loyalty to WordFence.
May you could recommend a real security plugin 😉
As an interesting note, I went into the Wordfence settings, cache was disabled and I even checked the cache stats- totally empty.
BTW, since I might have to get rid of Wordfence and recommendations for a replacement???
OK,
So I deactivated Wordfence first (as instructed by @guust) refreshed my webpage and BOOM! The maps takes me to places based on the Location in the Location Switcher.
So I guess that means that Wordfence is causing that problem. I want to speak with the people at WordFence but not being really technical what do I say to them…”the plugin is caching things it shouldn’t?” What would be more specific?
If it is OK with you guys can I post a topic to see if anyone else has had this problem to see if they found a way to fix it?
I thought I read that this plugin was compatible somewhere on here so I am a little surprised.
Thanks for you help & advice!
StaceyThe hard part is that sometimes I have this problem and sometimes I do not – sometimes it is just on mobile, sometimes just on desktop , sometimes both.
Could my hosting have anything to do with this?
Hi Guust,
Here is my URL:
Something is wrong because it is happening to all my test users not just me. Plus I for sure I never got a request to share my location – I would have remembered that. But from what you have said even if I did get that request and said yes I should still be able to use the location switcher which when I try at first it tries to load the page then reloads back to the shared location page, so I think something is wrong for sure.
When I test on my mobile the same thing happens – it is very frustrating for sure lol.
Let me know what you think or what your thoughts are on this.
Thanks
StaceyThere is an Addon in Theme Tailors that might do what you want.

This reply has been marked as private.Brace yourself…I found the problem and fixed it! The problem was in the CPT (club), the Menu Icon field was blank. I entered the URL and it is now fixed. In case some other idiot has the same problem this maybe the cause! LOL
The Melrose location issue I have not figured out, but I can tell you that it only happened on the laptop and it stopped as soon as I logged in.
I have been working on the breadcrub thing with John Allopp and will continue to do so as this is an compatibility issue with X-theme.
Cheers!
Hi @stiofan,
Just a suggestion – on mobile the list(s) can scroll…actually it is already set up as to scroll just not enough fields populate right now. Of course it would be even better if the first say 4 or 5 regions or cities presented were geographically closest to the user, then the rest maybe alphabetical (but maybe that would be for later LOL).
FYI I use Android 4.4.2 Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in case you wanted to know.
Cheers
I have clear Cache, history, cookies etc. I have attached as screen shot of what I see when I go to Shelters /clubs/shelters/. And Another Screenshot of the home page.
I am using a “custom Icon” not a default Icon.
http://www.muttmaps.com/location/united-states/massachusetts/
Note the above URL is on the home page with the Shelters ticked in the Map – the purple house is the icon set in the categories for Shelters
Now the problem is even worse. Did someone change a setting or something when you logged in???
When I have the Region of Massachusetts set and Everywhere for the city, when I click on Clubs or Shelters the Location Changer keeps changes to Melrose – WHAT IS WHITH THAT??? Why does it keep switching back to Melrose- this is not right. Plus I get the default google icons- where are they coming from. There is something very amiss here. Melrose is a very small city/town if this was the location set I should be getting a very magnified/close in view of things not a wide/expansive view.

Could you tell me where this google pinpoint default icon is coming from?? It is not in my Media area.
