Yes, I agree, you can start typing the location in the Region and Cities ON THE DESKTOP/LAPTOP. The problem – and I think it is a HUGE problem -is that you cannot do that on a smartphone or small format device (you cannot type a desired location (frankly even if you could that would not follow UX best practices). To emphasize, you cannot type to search by location (by typing) you can only select from the four options presented.
This limits the usefulness tremendously because the majority of people that are going to want to use this type of product are going to use their mobile devices.
In fact more people are using their mobile for searching, finding information etc on mobile not laptop or desktop.
I hope this glitch can be addressed quickly.
Cheers
StaceyOK I opened a ticket
What is even weirder to me is that on the home page map when I click on CLUBS in Category link on the map widget the Listings displays with the correct icons, but when I go to the Listing Page is it messed up (default widget).
I thought I would mention this because the home page uses the GMap Home Page widget and the Listing page uses uses GMap Listing Page widget

Cool! Got it works nicely!
OK I will and let you know how I make out!
OK so autozoom isn’t really going to do the trick for me on the Listings Page – user (for the most part especially on mobile) want to see things that are relevant to them geographically so having a view of the whole country then having to zoom & scroll really is not feasible.
So I guess what I have to do is play around with the zoom level first to try to get my desired results.
I let you know.
Thanks
StaceyNo autozoom was not set. I just set it and now I get consistent result (although zoomed out over a few states which is a bit too wide.
How does autozoom and Map Zoom Level interact? (I have the zoom level at 9 which was good). Seems like Autozoom overrides Map Zoom Level – as I have more listings spread out over a larger area (say from east coast to west coast of the USA) will autozoom render a map of the entire USA?
Cheers,
StaceyThanks @Joh Allsopp. That fixed the it.
I still however show Home > The Hydrant when I am on the home page (desktop & mobile) the url in the browser window is:
http://www.muttmaps.com (which is my home page)
I am wondering why the GD Search – particularly the buttons – do not pick up the X-theme style settings.
Can this be fixed?
Thanks
Stacey@john Allsop
Thank you. I am having a weird issue with desktop vs. mobile use and the headers (title display).
On the desktop I have no headers which is fine (although I would like to actually have my blog title display – but only on the blog pages- but I am not sure that is possible at the blog title appear on the GD home page and maybe other if it is allowed), but on my mobile device I get headers on some pages like
Details Pages for example:
http://www.muttmaps.com/dog-parks-hikes/united-states/massachusetts/boston/dog-parks/peters-park-dog-run-joe-wex-dog-recreation-space/http://www.muttmaps.com (this one seems like a real problem the breadcrumb indicates that I am not even on the home page?)
http://muttmaps.com/location/
http://www.muttmaps.com/contact-us/
http://www.muttmaps.com/us/
http://www.muttmaps.com/privacy/I am still having a little bit of a problem…I still get my Blog Title (The Hydrant) appearing on the DETAILS page(s). So I have both the breadcrumbs and the Blog Title LOL!
I wonder WHY I did not get a message to update??? How do I re-enble the update function.
I seem to have it fixed!
I got rid of:
.x-header-landmark {
display: none;
}And added this:
.blog .x-header-landmark {
display:none;
}As always thank your for your continued great support. Hope this helps others.
Stacey
