GD Post Meta is giving me want I need. Thank you for the pointer.
I did find the builder and have been playing with combinations.
I want to display the categories that are linked to a unique listing result, not all the subcategories. For example if there are 3 subcategories under Food (market, cafe, pizzeria), and I have 3 businesses in the Food category, one in each subcategory, Frank’s Pizza should only display the category Pizzeria, not market or cafe when a user clicks on the Food category icon. All 3 businesses will display, therefore I want to identify each with their segments within the Food group.
I have tried many combinations of the gd_categories shortcode without success. I was looking for something like gd_post_categories
Oh, thanks. I complete missed that a “Select custom field” was one of the standard fields.
Thank you. I purchased and installed the Advance Search. But, after reading the documentation, I still don’t see where/how to create the Select custom field. I don’t see any option on Places>Settings>Custom Fields or Search.
I see references to “create a Select custom field” but no steps.
Do I need the Advanced Search Add-on in order to create a custom field in the Search bar, as described in Option 2?
Thank you so much for the help. I will pencil out the category/tag strategy and play with the custom field option.
