Yes I found this article myself prior to asking the question. As I said I followed these directions and it did not work.
I copied the code snippet from this page, added it to the snippet plugin and activated it, exactly as the following article says https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/changing-the-layout-of-addresses/
and it did not work.Hold the phone. I went with your suggestion and in testing it seems to work better than I had though.

Your suggestion was exactly my initial work around plan but it does make our landing page clunky.

Yes they will however any time someone clicks a menu link on the homepage it will reload the page before taking them to the module which I am sure you can understand is just bad UX.
Is there a way to use custom menus or not?
