Hi Kiran,
That’s right, I have a few examples I can think of, but I’m sure there will be more needed in the future. Just for now, I’d like…
Kingston upon Hull (city) in East Riding of Yorkshire (region)
Liverpool (city) in Merseyside (region)I know that I can manually merge their existing regions with the new regions, however, that would mean that when someone submits a new listing in those cities and apply the address from Google Maps, it would end up creating the previously merged region all over again and therefore separating the new listing from everything else.
Thanks,
DaveHi Kor,
any news on this please?
Thanks,
DaveI just need a shortcode that works the same as %%location_single%% on the meta information, but in a wordpress page instead. Is that possible?
That way I can insert it into the title and body of the location pages.
Thanks
DaveHi Kor. Yes that’s right.
Are there any shortcodes I can use similar to the shortcodes/tags you have available in the meta data?
Thanks
DaveHi Kiran,
Thanks for this. From what I can see so far, all now appears to be working so thanks for sorting that out.
Hope you all had a good Christmas!
Dave
Hi Kiran,
Thanks for that. I can see that issue 2 – the ‘Featured’ sort – is now working correctly on the category archive page which is great.
Issue 1 – It’s now correctly sorting by spotlight, then highest rating. However, not all of my spotlight events are appearing in the Top Picks widget still. Aladdin, which appears in the ‘Today’s events’ widget underneath, should be showing too.
https://whatsonhub.co.uk/city/united-kingdom/kingston-upon-hull/Also, slightly new issue – The Little Mermaid, which is a recurring event, is showing the last date of the recurrences, whereas it should be showing the next one available i.e. Tue 24 Dec.
Thanks,
DaveIssue 1 again…
The ‘Recommended’ sort in the Top Picks widget, isn’t showing all of my Spotlight events either. This ‘Aladdin’ event should be showing in the Top Picks widget on the home page: https://whatsonhub.co.uk/events/united-kingdom/kingston-upon-hull/aladdin-81/
It’s showing in the ‘Today’s events’ widget below it which also has the same ‘Recommended’ sort order, but it’s not appearing in the ‘Top picks’ above it.
Thanks,
DaveJust going back to issue 1)…
Even though the sort has now appeared as an option to select in the home page widget, it’s not working correctly. It’s putting the ‘Spotlight’ listings first, but it should then be sorting by highest rating, but it’s not.
https://whatsonhub.co.uk/city/united-kingdom/kingston-upon-hull/Thanks,
DaveThanks Kiran.
I’ve now re-arranged the sorting order so that Spotlight isn’t the base sorting for both recommended and featured sorting options (see attached). However, it’s still not working. The featured event is now showing first (as it should) but spotlight is still not showing second, even though it’s no longer the base sort on both…

DaveThanks Kiran.
I can see that problem number 3 has been fixed now and Little Mermaid recurrent event is now appearing in the category archive page.
However, problems 1 and 2 haven’t been fixed. Can you please take another look?
Thanks,
DaveHi Kiran,
FTP details are correct. Password is case sensitive. Can you please retry?
Thanks,
DaveHi Alex, thanks for your reply.
I have just set up the following sort options in the Event Settings…
The ‘Recommended’ sort option as Spotlight > Rating > Event Date
The ‘Featured’ sort option as Spotlight > Featured > Event DateThose are exactly how I need them to be.
I want to use ‘Recommended’ sort on the Top Picks widget on the home page.
I want to use ‘Featured’ as default sort on category / archive pages. Here are the problem I’m having…
1) The ‘Recommended’ sort option isn’t available as an option for me to select under appearance > widgets in the WP Admin.
2) The ‘Featured’ sort is on the category/archive page by default, but is putting the Spotlight listings first, then followed by event date. Featured listings aren’t appearing second like they should be. Example here:
https://whatsonhub.co.uk/events/category/nightlife/united-kingdom/kingston-upon-hull/
‘Funny Friday’ is first as it should be. But the second item in the list should be ‘New Year’s Eve with Comedy Hypnotist’. Instead it’s third.3) This recurring event here: https://whatsonhub.co.uk/events/united-kingdom/kingston-upon-hull/the-little-mermaid/ is marked as ‘featured’ but isn’t appearing at all in any of those 2 sorting options. It only appears in the listings when it’s sorted by other sorting options i.e. rating, event date.
Can you help me please?
Thanks,
DaveThis reply has been marked as private.Hi Alex,
If the field can’t be set as default to ‘checked’ why is the option there?
Does this mean the user has to manually check the box themselves on the front end form in order to do what I’m after? Right now it is hidden as I just want every listing submitted to be automatically marked as ‘claimed’.
Thanks,
DaveHi Stiofan,
Thanks for letting me know.
Do you have any idea of when you plan to have this new feature ready? Is there a roadmap of new features that your customers can see rather than keep asking?
Thanks,
Dave -
