Hi,
I installed the GD plugin, along with the GDF and GDF child theme a couple of days ago. Whenever I try to add a new Place, everything saves/seems to publish OK at the backend, and I can see the listing appear on the Home page, but when I click on it from the front end, or try to view or preview the New Place detail page from the back end, I get a 404 Article Not Found error. Please could you advise?
Thanks.

September 23, 2014 at 1:06 pm #16259That’s quite strange. OK – I’ll create new custom post types and hopefully that will work.
September 23, 2014 at 4:42 pm #16276Hi Marieb, we are looking into this now, we’ll let you know asap.
Thx for your patience.September 23, 2014 at 5:02 pm #16278Great; many thanks Paulo.
September 23, 2014 at 5:03 pm #16279Hi again,
the problem was the Genre used as sort option. Being Checkboxes, it can’t be used to sort, but only in advance search. Probably you didn’t have it as Checkboxes when added as filter, than you probably changed it to checkboxes and the system didn’t remove it (that’s a bug that we discovered thanks to this).
We removed it and now, being checkboxes, it is no longer available in sort options.
Now places are working as expected.
Thx
September 23, 2014 at 5:50 pm #16284Hi Paulo,
Thanks very much for your help. Changing Genre to checkboxes is exactly what I did, so it sounds as though that was indeed the problem.
One more question…
I have now set up Venues as a custom post type, which makes more sense as a title for the listings for this particular site. I don’t intend to use the Places CPT as all the listings will be venues anyway. For this reason I have been trying to hide the post type Places and all its categories from the homepage map widget under the Map tab, so that site users don’t get confused (if they were to click on the Places tab by mistake, no listings would be returned). However, when I tick the Places checkbox and try to Save, it also disables/hides all but one of the Venue categories too. Is there any way around this?
Thanks for your help 🙂
September 23, 2014 at 8:12 pm #16313The problem was the names of categories that were identical. I deleted the places categories and now it’s working. I’ve flagged this for developers too. Even if it would be very rare a similar situation, it shouldn’t happen.
Thx
