My website was working fine earlier today but went down for some reason. I keep getting the following message:

There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

Learn more about debugging in WordPress.

After turning off all plugins, I try to activate them again. All my plugins activate just fine, but when I try to activate GD, my screen goes blank and I have to turn off the plugins again.

Is there an update to the V2 plugin that I need because of the recent update of WordPress 5.4? Otherwise, I’m not sure what’s going wrong. Like I said, my site seemed to work fine until today. That’s when the errors started to occur. The error is specifically on line 391 if that’s at all helpful to you.

    Thank you for your help.

In some digging with my hosting company, it seems that the plugin was causing spiking in my CPU Usage. I just got a notification to update GD in my admin to v2.0.0.85. Maybe that will help.

Hopefully, with the new version, my CPU Usage won’t spike anymore.

    hi Jeremy,

Thanks for your reply. Could you copy and paste the error logs here so that we could check what is it trying to tell us?

    Hey Kor,

I would have to have the hosting company run a diagnostic on it again to get you the error logs. But something is/was causing my CPU Usage to spike randomly. To get my site back online and running somewhat normal, I only have a couple of plugins running, GD Core being one of them.

The spiking has happened periodically over the last 30 days, but more when I added Optimole, which is an Image Optimizing plugin. Not sure if it conflicts with GD or not, but I like the concept of the plugin. It services images from their cloud, so I shouldn’t get CPU Usage or Disk Usage spikes. But at the same time, since only running GD Core and Optimole, I haven’t seen any spikes in CPU Usage. So, I’m kind of at a loss. lol

At any rate, I’ll keep monitoring it. I didn’t know if you had heard of GD Core or is sister plugins spiking CPU Usage or not. So, I thought I’d reach out to see if there were any known issues with the GD plugins.

    Hey, Guys –

So, I think I’ve got things flushed out here. Whenever I have GD V2 activated, I can’t access the customizer to updated CSS. I’m not sure why. If I deactivate GD, I can get into customizer just fine.

    Any insight on this?

These sound like they might be resource related. Ask your host if you are hitting the limits for your hosting plan.

    GD recommends: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/faq/server-requirements/

Is GD V2 much larger than GD V1? I don’t remember experiencing these issues before.

    As for resources, I have:

    Disk Usage – 21.41 GB / 40 GB (53.52%)
    System Disk Usage – 20 GB / 60 GB (33.33%)
    CPU Usage – 15 / 100 (15%)
    Physical Memory Usage – 200.23 MB / 2 GB (9.78%)
    File Usage – 282,398 / 3,735,552 (7.56%)
    MySQL® Disk Usage – 275.26 MB / 18.86 GB (1.43%)

Is GD V2 much larger than GD V1? That may be the answer to my issue.

Currently, I use ColorMag as my theme. Do you think it would help my resource problem if I used the 3rd party theme you recommend, Listimia?

    Hi Jeremy,

The size of the plugin is not representational of CPU or memory usage, in GDv2 we use an autolaoder so most files are only loaded when needed and some of the biggest files are only loaded on specific settings pages.

I would install the plugin “query monitor” to see if u can see a page with a spike, but it might be best to provide us the details requested above and we can check why your customizer is not saving, i suspect something to do with the theme.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan
