Ad Rotate + Directory Starter Theme

I am something of a newbie to all of this, so I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question. I am trying to add Ad Rotate to a Geodirectory-based page I am building. I’m using the Directory Starter theme because, obviously, it seems to work best with the Geodirectory plugin.

I want my ad management experience to be as simple as possible, and the Ad Rotate plugin seems to fit the bill for that. I have been trying to add demo ads to different sections of my page, and they don’t seem to be appearing. I’ve just been dragging the Ad Rotate widget into different sections of the GD Page and refreshing to see if they display, but so far no luck.

Can anyone here help me? Is this a problem with Ad Rotate, with the Directory Starter theme I’m using, or is it just that I don’t know what I’m doing? Thanks.
