Hi, We are tweaking our setup and we have about 4 different post types, each with there own form. I am working out some bugs, and I am not sure if what I am experiencing is a bug with our system, or a settings issue. I have gone through the documentation and the forum and cannot find a specific answer.

Note that we are using the full package of Geodirectory plugins, including Multilocations.

I know that you can set the search for everywhere, which I have done. We only have a couple of test ads up, so we wanted to test other regions. I have checked every setting according to the documentation if I understand it correctly, but so far we can only place a listing from an area that is local, it will not let me change the form. So, if I am in San Francisco, it only lets me post in SF, not Chicago (see attached screen shot of message). I will be uploading some ads from other areas, but we would really like to let people post from anywhere in the world, even areas that they are not physically located in.

Again, we may have a bug in our system, as I am still smoothing things out, but I have been pretty thorough about the settings, reading the documentation, and the forums, and so far have not been able to get around this issue.

    Please advise.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

it’s not a bug. This happens in 2 cases:

    1) No location manager installed.

    2) Location manager installed and set up to work only for the default location.

To fix this go to GeoDirectory >> MultiLocations and enable Multi Country > Multi Region > Multi City.

Let us know how it goes,

    Thanks

Hi, Yes indeed, it is installed. We had tried this before, but ended up not being able to do it. However, I had altered the fields in the form, and just now turned it back on, and it seems to work fine. Since I am setting up different post types, and making different form for each, perhaps there’s a conflict there with the global settings?

At any rate, at this point I will finish configuring the various forms for our 4 post types, and if there is an additional issue, I will get back to you. Otherwise, so far so good.

    Thank you very much!

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but are you not using the automatically created Add Listing page for each CPT? There is usually no need to make a different form for each …
    Ignore if I misunderstood …

    Thanks

Hi, This is Matthew, the developer for Kathy’s project, answering your question:

We are on about our 5th iteration of this project when we began using Geo. and we are doing some unusual things to meet the demands of the original concept, some of which we may need to abandon, as I am already going along that line of thinking this late in the game.

Yes, we are using the forms generated by the post types, however we are using the shortcodes that Geo. provided to place them into certain pages, and I think that might be causing some of the issues considering how we are using them, especially since there are more issues than the ones mentioned above. We also have some forms that won’t show the fields on the front end regardless of how they are set on the back end, despite everything being set up correctly according to the documentation and forums.

All in all, if I don’t find a solution fairly soon to rectify the multiple form issues, I am going to recommend to Kathy that we change the design somewhat to be more in line with the way that Geodirectory behaves, since as of right now I think we have tried to push it a bit too far…and since Geodirectory offers most of the services that she wants to include, though configured a little differently.

Either way, thanks for your help, it has me thinking about other options for her project that will save a lot of time and effort!
