Adding Category as Dropdown

In the supreme theme, I want to have the categories section in the search bar that you see on the front page as a pulldown. I didn’t see any kind of option for it or any code snippets that would enable it. Is there any code or something I missed that would enable me to do that?

So for example:
If under the place post type I have the categories of 1,2,3,4, and 5, I want when they choose the place post type, the categories field populates with 1,2,3,4,5 and is selectable.
