    Hello,
    Our setting about permalinks is:
X Add requested category slugs in listing urls.

When adding a new listing on admin backend with a single category, the category is inserted on URL like this:
    https://www.mydomain.com/mycustompostype/location/category/listingtitle

but if the admin add a new category for the same listing (I have not tried it with the user frontend by now), the URLs is changed with the new category (the main is the first one) and the listing URLs becomes a different one.
    https://www.mydomain.com/mycustompostype/location/newcategory/listingtitle
This is not convenient for two reasons:
    1. The main category must be the first,
    2. The URL changes are not convenient for SEO purposes.

How can I set a category as “Main” in order to avoid the URL changes

    thanks
    Jordi

The original will b preserved if another is added. If the original is removed, though, then yes it wll also be removed from the URL.

To keep the page URL the same, add more categories without removing the original.

Further, if there are two categories, you can use the Ajax chained’ option to select a default category as shown in the image below. The default will be used in the URL.

I’m not using the “Ajax chained” option to select categories. Is it mandatory to preserve the original category?

I think the “Ajax chained” way is a little bit more confusing than “Multiselect” for ordinary users.

Using “Multiselect” and adding a category (not removing original) the URL is updated.

What is the Geodirectory criteria to “select” the default category when adding multiple categories using multiselect?

In the case of adding a category, preserving the original category (and not deleting it) is mandatory to preserve the URL.

The only option for setting the default through the form is to use the ajax-chained input widget.

    Well,
In my website adding a category and not removing the original, the URL is updated and do not preserve the original.

but I need the answer for the question:

using the MULTISELECT method, and selecting few categories when adding a listing, what is the criteria for select a category to insert it in the URL?

I will flag your question for the developers, but, from my testing it looks like changes to the categories field values result in the field values being completely reset, and then the first field listed is used as the URL.The developers have been alerted, thanks for your patience until they can provide an update.
