Having moved from another directory platform I am looking at how to integrate Adsense into Geo.

So far I have made a bad job and I am only generating 10% – 20% per day, so I need to make some tweaks!

On my old platform it was possible to have Adsense ads included between listings returned in search results at a frequency that I could dictate. This worked very well.

In addition, as each listing package (Bronze, Silver, Gold) had its own template, it was possible to control how much external advertising appeared on listing details pages. So for ‘Bronze’ listings there might have been 3 Adsence adverts, For ‘Silver’ two adverts, and for ‘Gold’, no Adverts.

I am looking to find a way to weight so the ‘Free/Bronze’ package listing details page has Adsense adverts but ‘Gold’ has none.

I would also like to add Adsense adverts to the Events page and the Blog page and posts page.

Is it best to use ‘Ad-inserter’ type plugins, or manually apply the snippets into the templates? Can anyone recommend the best way to work with Adsense on Geo (running Listimia)

You could show or hide a tab based on package

We have a new advertising plugin coming soon.

Other than that you will have to work through your theme or builder options to place and organize ads as GD does not organize ads.

You could use one or more “admin only” HTML custom fields with the ads script as the default value and restrict them according to your prices.

At that point, you should be able to show the listings more or less where you want.

I flagged this for Stiofan in case he knows a better way.

    Thanks

The ways mentioned above are about the only ways for now, though more ways are coming soon.

    Thanks.

I have managed to bodge it the best I can using control on widget visibility, and an ad inserter where I have to manually edit each place listing where I don’t want the ads to show – tedious, but it works!

I wasn’t able (with my skills) to have the ads show in search results (which is where it counts).

Even with this in place I am currently making much less than half what I used to with PMD. It wasn’t a lot of revenue then, but it makes the difference between my site being viable or not being viable (and e.g. being able to pay for GD membership in future) so I would really appreciate any help or improvements in this respect.

Over the last few days I have improved the revenue being generated from Adsense. This was by increasing the number of adds being displayed to more than I was having to run on PMD, of course their is a trade off with visitor experience.

I think the function of including ads within search results is being looked into, I feel this would really improve the performance of adsense .
