Advanced Search Bar Setup for a CPT – Using No Location

I am working on a directory of plant types created in the Custom Post Types Add-on called Plants. I’ve setup a category of Perennials and another of trees within the Plants Custom Post Type. Now I want to be able to search my database of Plants using the Advanced Search Bar with the custom fields I’ve created . I have that plugin installed and I believe I have setup all my custom fields to appear on the search bar properly
I want to be able to search for keywords and/or category and/or any one or all of my custom fields.
These are the custom fields:Hardiness,Dormancy, Culture
I have not been able so far to get the search bar to work properly at all. It would seem to me that I should be able to hit the search icon with out selecting or entering keywords and the result should be all records since there is no filtering criteria. As more filters are selected less records will fit all criteria selected as filters.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.
