    Dear Paolo,

We going to setup our GeoDirectory very soon …so the main help we need to give us your advice on how to structure the GeoDirectory for a country with 12 region and 70 main city.

We need the GeoDirectory structure to accommodate the above with the following:
    – The events national wide.
    – Search for any listing with branches if found.
    – Search for the related listing national wide or (region – city – certain area).

So how we can build an A to Z Glossary (Hierarchical Taxonomy) in A MENU displayed horizontally with ascending order like:
(ALL-0-9-ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ) These letters glossary will act like ( index page or tab or bar ) for many trems entry (Custom Post Type) each trem will have a title for its heading and the body text for list description.

    Thanks,
    omangate

If I understand you correctly, you will use GD for one country only. To do this:
    1. Set a default location anywhere in the country
    2. Set the MultiLocation settings to “enable default country”, and set multi-region and multi-city
    3. Regions and cities will automatically be added as you start adding listings or events

For the menu (which sounds like a really big menu) you might want to look for a sitemap plugin maybe, or use the normal WordPress menu.
GD has some widgets you can use that will link to your categories etc, and you can add all custom post types to your main menu etc, but GD does not come with something like you describe.

Let us know if there is anything else we can help with.

Thanks for your input, I wish only you have a detailed case study video to show ALL GD functionally and capability with FULL setup to accommodate
different requirements and scenarios in form of webinar recordings.

As for our GD requirements I do understood your explanation of the three points above but still we need more clarification for the following:
1- How we can setup the main listing index page to the reflect dynamic listing for many category.
2- What is the chronological steps to setup the tree for (GFS => Grandfather – Father – Son) which reflect the GD structure for ( country – region -city) .
3- What is best way to define correctly the (Hierarchical Taxonomy) from the categories so the GD work smoothly for our scenario especially
the CMS between the index listing and all relevant geographical locations.

I appreciate you kind input detail in this matter especially the correct way to setup the GD so we do not face any challenges in the future
because we did not setup the GD structure correctly from the beginning or we miss one important step.

    Thanks,

Please have a look at http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/sitemap/
I realise it is a work in progress, but the main things that should help you are:
    http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/basic-installation/
    http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/layout/
    http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/places-categories-and-listings/

    1. If you step through http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/basic-installation/ you will have the structure set up correctly to start adding categories and listings.
If you do not want to install the dummy data, this is the process to get your site started once you finished the installation.

    A. Add the Location Manager (MultiLocations) addon
    http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/installing-addons/

    B. If you want to rename Places, install Custom Post Types add-on, and go to
GD > Custom Post Types > Edit the Places CTP

    C. Create at least one category:
WP admin > Places > Places Categories

    D. Now you can create a listing:
WP admin > Places > Add New

    2. There is no need to to anything else than I first noted:

    1. Set a default location anywhere in the country
    2. Set the MultiLocation settings to “enable default country”, and set multi-region and multi-city
    3. Regions and cities will automatically be added as you start adding listings or events

So all you have to do is to create a default location, there is no need to do anything else before listings can be added to any other city in your chosen country

    3. Look at this article:
    http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/places-categories-and-listings/
Listings will automatically be added to the chosen category and city.
If you have a default location set up and at least one category, adding a test listing will give you a good idea.
You can always try to add a listing here to see how it works in a standard installation: http://wpgeo.directory/add-listing/

Please accept my thanks for your clear response, certainly will go through each of them.

Can you please clarify some of the following points :
1- If we set the MultiLocation settings to “enable default country”, and set multi-region and multi-city IS the GD will add (regions -citys) dynamically for that country or we have to enter each [region -city] manually.
2- If we have to enter the (regions -citys) manually on there we have do that to enable this feature.
3- How we setup the events Addon for our scenario ( country – region -city) .
4- What is the best approach to add Advanced search filters and how we can build flexible parametric searches with your Addon.

    Thanks,

    Hi and welcome.

1 Cities and Regions will be added dynamically by users, while adding listings for regions and cities that are not yet in your database.

2 you can chose to that manually, but that will reslult in a lot pages without results.

3 Events is just another Custom Post Type (with different fields). There are no differences between Places and Events setup.

4 Go to GeoDirectory >> Place settings for example and create any type of custom fields. In each custom field settings, you can enable them as extra filters in advance search. Once enabled it will appear in GeoDirectory >> Places settings >> Advance search tab and it can be activated and used in search.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thx

    Hi,

We face small challenge which some cities and city area are not included by google map for GEO locations so HOW we can add those cities so it can be visible for listing and visitors.

Also can the Business Owner have the flexibility to add any cities or city area which not included in our list OR we have to do that manually.

    Thanks,

Can you please tell us which cities you cannot add?
You can add a URL of your site in a private message, if you like, that makes things easier.
And your WP admin details as well, that way we can check your settings if we have to.

    Hi,

google maps API dont work properly on localhosts sometimes.

I’d suggest to install in a live server so we can also help you better.

Yes users can add new locations that are not in your database, by simply adding a new listing for the location they want to create.

    Hi,

We face time challenge to translate GD plus the Addons we need for our Directory so kindly can you help with options like :

1- Send to us the arabic translation or give us the email address for one of your arabic customers so that we use the translated files from them.
2- Because there’s so many words and paragraph to be translated so if possible to send to us the words for front end use only.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

we don’t collect Members Geographical information, so I wouldn’t really know who’s arabic, whose not and who may have already transalted in Arabic both the core and the addons.

I would try posting here wit5h a topic titled : Arabic Translation? To see if anyone answer or if you can create a workgroup to split the translation between members and cut time and effort…

At the moment there is only one po file for both front and back end. I will ask to the developers to look into splitting po/mo file for front and back end, but I can’t promise when this will be done.

    Thanks
