I know by default, listing creators and administrators can delete listings. Is there a way to allow a different user role to also be able to delete listings? We have sales reps that we don’t want to be able to access administrator privileges, but we want to be able to give them the ability to delete listings.

Is this possible? I have the Members plugin that allows me to assign custom capabilities to specific user roles, but there is nothing pertaining to geodirectory that shows up, so I am unable to do it that way.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

It is not. Only admins and listing owners can.

    Thanks

We are working on something, but it might be a little while before its release.

So, if I understand this correctly, “Places” (the default listing type), is just a post and is categorized as such in the backend, correct? So I would need to grant permission to edit and delete other people’s posts.

I will do this in the meantime, but my problem is that I don’t want the Sales Reps to be able to edit or modify actual content (we are a news site that also implements listings). I also don’t want the Sales Reps to have Administrator access (for obvious reasons). I just want them to be able to manage the listings, including being able to delete.

If you guys are interested in making an add-on that works for companies that have Sales Reps (or even agencies) handling multiple listings, I’d be happy to share what I know about the needs of those companies 🙂

I tried to do it with the franchise add-on, but it’s not quite what I’m looking for.

    Hello,

Is there away to disable the delete link for authors via css until more access control is developed? I would only want admins to be able to delete listings. Because if for my directory, if they get bad ratings I don’t want them to be able to delete their profile if they are not a good place.

    Thank you!

Yes you could hide it with CSS,or there is a setting in GD>General>User deleted posts go to trash? If you have this ticked the listings will just go to trash and can be restored at a later date.

    Thank you.

    Let me ask this:

The only place I see to delete is in “my dashboard” under “my listings” I removed those links in navigation.

Question: is there any other place I can get to that page now? If I make it hard for users to find a delete button this could work?

Let me know if there are other ways to find this delete account area. So far I can’t find any.

    Thank you!

That is great actually. I want admin only to delete profiles. Because if a business gets listed and they get negative reviews I don’t want them to delete that profile and set up a new one with no reviews.

    Thank you.
