Does anyone have a tool or an foolproof method to backup the wordpress database and get only the wpgeodirectory rows in tables for wpgeo listings? I think I have a corrupt database due to several themes and several plugins that inhabited the db and I want to reload WP as well as GeoDir from a fresh install without losing the listings.

Hello, unfortunately it is not so easy and foolproof, because GD uses also wordpress tables, (postmeta etc..) so it might result in a broken website.
You could export al the wp_geodir* tables, but in the fresh install you need to have the, for example, the same categories (with the same ID) you have on the “old” website. The best choice should be to have a csv of the listings to be uploaded on the new installation

Yes, the id is tricky but I can always auto increment above xxxx. Our tables are starting at around 5800 so that is a very high number to start an auto increment at. The csv is OK but there just is not a WP tool for this that passes mustar. It sure would be nice if the goedir tables could contain all the data and not share them with WP. Unfortunately this may be why many people don’t liek using WP for “plugins.”

Thanks for your suggestions. I’m about ready to build my own directory—not a plugin. There are just too many restriction with WP.
