I attached a new external IP to my testing AWS instance & a bunch of images are broken (/me wonders what else…?)
It seems images – especially icons for locations/categories & the social media sharing, etc – points to an absolute URI pointing to the servers old external IP, rather than a relative locating to the host.

Is there a way to uniformly update references?

I’m not sure I follow you.

How are you “attaching” the new ip?

I’ve asked to Stiofan to read this too and see if he understand better than me.

    Thanks

    Hi Jake,

It should be using the domain name not an IP address? Can you link to your site?

    Hi chaps,

Site is not live yet & access restricted until I have something to how my own piers. Working on MVP PoC atm.
I’ll make the site publicly-accessible once I’ve hardened it a lot more & got someone to do a basic OWASP-check for me.

Presently site is still accessed via IP & DNS/domain is not yet set, so resources use the IP as base-URI. IP has changed, as I attached new static IP to host during early dev (after loading your plugins).

This means that resources (icons, media, etc) were uploaded/generated & pointed to http://$OLD-IP/$resource, whereas it should be accessible as a relative (not absolute) path that’ll resolve to http://$NEW-IP/$resource

    Hi,

I have added this as a task to be looked at, as you can tell it’s not a bug that is going to affect many so it will be looked at once higher priority things have been taken care of.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

cheers – it may be a relatively simple bug to look at – referencing assets by relative path rather than absolute
