Can we search by Postal Code?

    Is there a way for users to put their postal code on the search and show what’s around it?

    Hi Manfred,

    Thanks for your post. The Near field will search zip codes. Have you tested it?

    Post codes are sometimes re-used in other countries, so, your search needs more information.

    Try 8001 Switzerland or 8001 Zurich

    If your listings are all in one city/region/country you can use the search options in the GD Settings to add that information so it is implicit in each search.

    What about selecting a particular country so the search implicitly takes that information?

    Would a normal search (ie. “food”) still show results for other countries?

    That is what the settings field is for, yes, it will send a country if you type in a country.

    It is only active when a Near search is submitted.

    Aaah thanks.

    So let’s say I have 2 countries, UK and Switzerland. But I prefer to limit the “Near” field to Switzerland.

    If I search on the other search field (“Search for”) something UK related (a title of a UK listing for example) will the search show it?

    Or does the country “restriction” affect the “Search for” field and nothing would be shown?

    If you add “Switzerland” in the settings, then search “8001” it will submit “8001 Switzerland”. If you then submit “London” it will submit “London Switzerland”.

    But we have two fields to search right? “Search for” and “Near”.

    If my base country for searches is set to Switzerland, everything I write on “Near” will be Switzerland-centric – I understand that.

    But what about the other field, “Search for”? What if I search something London-related there?

    Will I find London results or only Switzerland results?

    It is only active when a Near search is submitted. It is not active for “Search for”.
