    Hey guys,

Struggling with an import location csv. I’ve successfully imported a larger CSV in the past but haven’t been able to get this one to work. It’s telling me there is a blank or invalid address or lat/long field on all the records but I can’t see anything problematic. Can you help me figure out what’s wrong with it?

You have post IDs so I am guessing you are trying to update existing listings [otherwise should be blank]
That’s all I can see wrong … unless you are not allowing listings in the locations, or the categories do not exist.
It imported fine on my test site [without the post IDs].

    Thanks

    Hello!

When I opened your CSV file with LibreOffice the encoding looks off. It should be UTF-8.

The rows already have a post ID. Are you planning to update listings, then?

What we can do for you is login, export listings, use the exported sheet to add one new listing (removing all the others), and then import it. If it succeeds, importing a single test listing, it shows the functionality works.

From that point, the next step is to take the ‘known working good sheet’ and to merge your data into it. Keep the columns and encoding the same, use the same process to save it, and then upload it.

GD support recommends using LibreOffice as a known quantity; Excel = ‘not good’. I have used Google Sheets successfully, too; it saves automatically into UTF-8. Be sure your file is saving in UTF-8(!important).

You can make private reply with your admin details and we can do a test as mentioned above.

    Thanks!

    Wow,

So here’s what happened. It’s been a long week 🙂

I was trying to import Listings as locations instead of listings.

    sigh.

That will indeed not work very well 🙂
