Greetings
I inserted an item (Lyon train station at http://www.FranceTravelHolidays.com) by hand and downloaded and followed field layout using openoffice 4 for csv files. Have read docs about required fields, comma, double quote delimiters etc.
1. I was able to import one entry (Austerlitz train station) very partially.
2. I can’t get French accented letters to upload (tried various character sets)
3. My custom field are not being importedMessage:
Total 5 item(s) found.
1 / 5 item(s) ignored due to already exists.
4 / 5 item(s) could not be added due to blank title/invalid post type/invalid characters used in data.Somewhere I’m doing something wrong. Can you help please. I would like to get Paris working properly before I buy a membership and add other places. Much appreciated
WordPress 4.8.2 running Supreme Directory theme.
Attached is the file I’m attempting to uploadOctober 25, 2017 at 10:19 pm #402592Hello!
Have you set your default location?
Did you already create the category?
Do you have a test site?It would be helpful to look at the export csv that shows the custom fields fully populated.

The only issue I can see is that the image columns. Please review the section on images for more information about that. https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-export/
Thanks!
October 25, 2017 at 10:20 pm #402593I see you did create the category, but are not including the parent category, so that may error for not existing.
October 26, 2017 at 10:07 am #402667Alex,
Appreciate your reply… really like how reactive GD support is.
Yes default location created … identical to spreadsheet info
I did try with the parent category (in the same cell, comma separated: transport, train stations). It didn’t work any better.
I woke up this morning realizing I hadn’t inserted just the image names! (yes, it’s gone into my subconsciousness!). I will try that but after importing the ‘Lyon train station’ data, in the columns for images it had the full urls … I simply copied and pasted them in the other stations. BTW, on the Lyon station import there was no parent category.
Yes, I’d like you to take a look.

I planned to take a look at this today, but I still can’t access with the credentials.
Please check the credentials and let me know.
Do you have some sort of IP or country filter blocking login, perhaps?
Please make sure that you have updated all the GeoDirectory plugins you have installed. We are constantly updating the plugin. You can use https://wpeasyupdates.com/ to automate the updates, too.
We have had some experience with mismatches between CSV character sets and the WordPress database character sets. That said, the plugin supports import of both html and non-english characters, as long as they are valid characters.
In order to proceed with diagnosis of the issue, please enable wordpress debug mode on your site and attempt the import again.
Enable debugging via wp-config.php by adding/updating the following lines. During import with site debug enabled, then the errors will be logged to wp-content/debug.log telling you exactly which row is causing the problem.
define('WP_DEBUG', true); define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);
Thanks!

I can see when I open your CSV that it is not UTF-8.
That is a grouped error, as you say. I believe it is the encoding of the sheet that is the issue. The characters are being interpreted as illegal characters because the sheet is not UTF-8. Please change the encoding of the CSV to UTF-8 and save again before you re-import.
We actually recommend a slightly more thorough process.
1) Create a new blank CSV file with LibreOffice and choose UTF-8
2) Open your current sheet and select all , copy all
3) Paste into the new blank sheet (UTF-8) and save again (as UTF-8)
4) Try upload againhttps://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-export/
I have updated the documentation to include this special instruction about UTF-8 encoding for CSV.
Thank you for your patience, and we hope that works for you.
Let us know how it goes
October 31, 2017 at 11:25 pm #403567Hello!
I was working with another EU member this week.
I shared that I was able to complete the process to import with Google sheets.
When the member tried it with Google sheets, they succeeded.
I recommend you give it a try also. CSV can be tricky, and I was happy for some progress, regardless of the tool.
Let me know if that works for you.
