If i want to use the shortcode “Category Description” I know where the descriptions are for child categories. But, where do I enter descriptions for the parent categories?

Same place. They are all just categories.

The CPT’s are not in the same place. If you select CPT Places>Places Categories you will see a list of categories for the parent places. The parent/CPT is not there. You can add a description for the child categories there where you can access those categories and fields and the description for those child categories will show up in Category Description.

The only place for a CPT description appears to be under GD>Settings>Post Types>CPT Edit>Description. But, that doesn’t appear to populate the Category Description.

    CPT description is in

    Places – Settings – General – Advanced – Description

That field is not shown on the frontend without a theme function to call it up; it is not accessible through any GD elements.

That does not appear to be working.

If you want to make a special section for CPT Description then it is possible to create an archive that is unique to a CPT. In that archive template then add the description or other content you want to add.

The CPT achive can be selected in the CPT Settings at

    GD – CPT – Settings – General – Advanced – GD Archive

Ok, I’ll try that. Thanks, that may work great for me as long as there’s no extra space added by having the GD> Category Description shortcode there when no content is available for it to display.

I guess this goes back to the template dealio in the other thread you’re helping me with. Thanks again!
