category slug auto changing to category-1

    slug structure in my cateogry urls for some reason decided to change to category-1 and nothing I do keeps it from reverting back automatically. Its wrecking my seo. need solution. https://bestcontractorawards.com

    That means there must be duplicate slugs in the database, for tags or listing slugs or pages or even categories from another post type.

    Made the changes in the db to the slugs and it worked, till I made a normal edit to one of the categories and upon saving it it switched it back to category-1. Thats cant be normal for that to occur because theres always edits that needs to be done to content and having the url slug structure renamed to some random value each time has to be a glitch

    Did you try searching for the slug across the whole database?

    There will be a duplicate somewhere. It isn’t possible to just replace category-1 with category.

    For example ‘cabinetry’ – if you search for that you will find a tag or something else with that slug.

    One strategy is to add more words tot he category like ‘cabinetry-experts’ – something like that.
