How can I change the “Special Offer” tab title. I have tried changing it in languages.php and custom_functions.php but no matter what I do it the label is still “Special Offer”.

    Where do I change it?

I have done a search on the forum and found a couple of people who have had the same problem but no clear solution.

    Thank you

Hello Dan, it is simpler than expected. You can change it using the .po file inside your geodirectory folder.

Use this guide here, it works also for a rephrase of a string, not only for a translation.

    Thanks Simone,

That all made perfect sense. Made the changes, popped it into the right folder. Still not working though. I suspect the issue is that it can’t find the .mo file. When I looked at where it was looking, it is looking for:

    geodirectory/homepages/44/d566176003/htdocs/clickandbuilds/[HIDDEN SITE NAME]/wp-content/languages/geodirectory/geodirectory-en_GB.mo

This is taking the code from the geodirectory.php file.

    I suspect it should be:

    /clickandbuilds/[HIDDEN SITE NAME]/wp-content/languages/geodirectory/geodirectory-en_GB.mo

Although I have tried putting this address in the geodirectory.php file but it doesn’t seem to find it.

copying the .po/.mo files inside wp-content/languages/geodirectory should work, have you tried to delete the cache in your browser?

Cleared the cache and it helped (thank you). It is now translating – “Special Offer” has now become “Announcement” across the site expect the tab on listing detail.

The tab still says “Special Offer”.

    It’s so strange.

You can translate that label by going into the post type settings (e.g. Place Settings), expanding the Special Offer field and setting a different Frontend title

Just FYI, the mo file is generate when you save the edited po file with a software like poedit.

    Thx
