I install and reinstall wordpress 36 times trying to find this charset coding issue for supporting other language else than english .. but any time I get into the same issue
I keep change randomly the charset in config file and the mysql between utf8, utf8mb4, general, unicode, swedish, searching around this forum and on google search. no direct answer.
is there a 1 2 3 steps to fix this issue or the recommended charset that should be.
    thank you

the problem exactly is when any word is written else than english, like french “letter with accents” in the description or title of each place it get converted into some strong characters … after you submit the place or even in the preview, before submitting.
    I figure it’s maybe a charset issue
    thanks

Have you checked that both your Database and Tables Character Set and Collation are utf-8?

If you have, please provide url and admin credentials of both website and phpmyadmin.

    Thanks

    Hello pcmotec,

This is a very strange one, i have not see it before, it is not DB related it is a server problem.

Tell this to your server admin:

The $_POST header values are correct but when doing a print_r($_REQUEST); on the server it is wrong, it’s like PHP needs to be told to use UTF-8.

Let us know how you get on.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

I was thinking about this also … a server problem , that’s why I reinstall an other wordpress in an other domain name in the same server and it was ok until I install your plugin
I’m not sure .. right now about the problem

is this error can tell you something?

Error: A charset attribute on a meta element found after the first 512 bytes.
    At line 92, column 36
    charset=”utf-8″ />

    Hello,

It does nothing more than confirm it is something server related, in your error logs there are lots of errors like:

[29-Nov-2015 13:22:07 UTC] PHP Warning: Unknown: function 'utf-8' not found or invalid function name in Unknown on line 0

Also the wp-admin details no longer work so i can’t try any sort of debugging.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan
