child theme issue : single.php, single-gd_place.php, format.php not working.. :(

hi,
i am using ‘GDF Child’ theme and am willing to modify the ‘details’ template so i tried to :
– create and edit a ‘post-formats/format.php’ file : could not see the changes on details page,
– create and edit a ‘single.php’ file : could not see the changes on details page,
– create and edit a ‘single-gd_place.php’ file : could not see the changes on details page….

is there something i don’t understand with ‘GDF Child’ behaviour and am doing wrong or is this not normal ???

oh, and to make things not that easy i am running wp v.4.0…. 🙁
